  1. IMHO - Pick him up
  2. IMHO - drop him
  3. Cardinals acquired RHP Jeff Weaver and cash considerations from the Angels from outfielder Terry Evans. Rotoworld: A return to the Dodgers might have been even better, but we're optimistic that Weaver will have considerable fantasy value the rest of the way. He'll also be pretty useful to the Cardinals, though he's not someone who can necessarily be counted on in a playoff game. His arrival should bump Sidney Ponson from the St. Louis rotation, if not the roster entirely. My Suggestion - 2nd Half sleeper pick
  4. Eric Gagne was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with pain in his lower back and is expected to remain overnight. Gagne still hasn't begun a throwing program that he initially was scheduled to start last Friday, and it's believed his back pain is unrelated to any baseball activity. He's scheduled to be examined by Dr. Robert Watkins and more should be known about his condition on Thursday. IMHO - Drop him
  5. Brian Shackelford was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault. Shackelford was arrested leaving Miller Park following Wednesday's game. Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz declined to provide details on the arrest other than to say it involved a woman Monday. The Reds said they would not discuss the case because of pending legal proceedings. "We recognize the seriousness of the matter and do not condone behavior of the type alleged," the team said in a statement.
  6. Maurice Clarett is expected to sign a contract to play for the Mahoning Valley Hitmen, one of four teams in the firstyear Eastern Indoor Football League. http://www.dispatch.com/football/football....0706-F2-01.html
  7. Not saying if its a good deal or not, just pointing it out. Derek Fisher has reportedly been traded to the Jazz for Devin Brown, Keith McLeod and Andre Owens. The Bobcats have signed forward Adam Morrison, the third overall pick of last week's draft. Under the rookie salary scale, Morrison will make $6.25 million in the first two years of the deal that runs through 2007-08. The Bobcats hold club options for the next two years of the contract.

The Diamondbacks optioned Valverde to Triple-A Tucson Monday, reports the Associated Press.
  10. J.J. Henry held on for an easy three-shot win over Hunter Mahan and Ryan Moore at the Buick Championship. He became the first Connecticut native to win the event, which marked his first PGA Tour victory.
  11. DETROIT (CP) - The unbreakable will and desire that made Steve Yzerman one of the greatest NHL players in history told him to play one more season. The knee worn down after 22 years of hockey at its highest level told him it simply wasn't possible, at least not at the level he wanted. It left Yzerman no choice but to officially announce his retirement on Monday and bring an end to a playing career that made him one of the most respected men in hockey. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170385&hubname=nhl
  12. TSN is reporting that the Anaheim Ducks have traded one roster player, one non-roster player and several conditional high-end draft picks to the Oilers in exchange for Chris Pronger. Islanders signed Brendan Witt to a three year contract on Monday.
  13. Now ESPN is reporting that Ben Wallace has told the Pistons he's accepting a four-year deal worth nearly $60 million from the Bulls. The Hawks have agreed to a deal with free agent point guard Speedy Claxton. It is believed that Claxton will receive a four-year deal worth $25 million and it appears to be a perfect match for both the team and Claxton.
  14. The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenseman Rob Blake to a two-year/$12 million contract Predators signed Jason Arnott to a five year/$22.5 million contract. Andy Delmore signed a one-year $450,000 contract with the Lightning Sunday. The Lightning have signed Nikita Alexeev to a one-year contract. Thrashers signed Steve Rucchin to a contract on Monday. No terms were disclosed. Sabres re-signed Teppo Numminen to a one year contract on Monday. While terms were not disclosed, it is expected the veteran will receive a raise from his $2 million salary of last season. Senators re-signed Jason Spezza to a two year/$9 million contract.
  15. Ben Roethlisberger is expected to start throwing next week for the first time since being injured in a motorcycle accident. In his recovery from head and jaw injuries, Big Ben's strength and stability will be key factors in his quest to return sooner rather than later. The Steelers will not rush Roethlisberger back, a source said, and are fully prepared to keep him on the sidelines for Week 1 vs. Miami.
  16. ESPN is reporting that Ben Wallace has told the Pistons he's accepting a four-year, $52 million offer from the Bulls.
  17. We might if we didnt have to beg to use them.
  18. Vernon Wells should be starting over Vlad.
  19. Nene has agreed to a six-year, $60 million deal with the Nuggets. The Hornets have agreed to terms with free-agent guard Bobby Jackson.
  20. The Lakers were able to persuad forward Vladimir Radmanovic to leave the Clippers and join the other team in L.A. on Saturday. The Hornets made the first big news of the NBA's free-agent signing period, agreeing to terms Saturday with forward Peja Stojakovic. Stojakovic, who last week opted to become a free agent instead of continue playing for Indiana, will sign a five-year deal worth about $64 million with the Hornets Jason Terry and the Mavericks have agreed on a six-year contract. His agent said Terry accepted a "hometown discount" to stay, but considering it's a six-year deal and Mark Cuban, we're sure Terry is doing just fine. Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets have agreed on a five-year, $80 million max contract to be signed later this month. Anthony will officially sign the deal July 12th, but his agent said he never considered leaving Denver. He will play out the final year of his rookie deal in 2006-2007 before the extension kicks in. The Raptors signed Andrea Bargnani, the No. 1 overall pick, to a multi-year deal on Saturday. Under the NBA's rookie scale, Bargnani will make $7.78 million in the first two years of the deal that runs through 2007-08. The Raptors also hold club options for the next two years of the contract. The Clippers have offered Sam Cassell, last season's co-captain and emotional leader, a two-year deal that could be worth as much as $12 million. That might be enough to keep him with the Clippers next season, although it's unknown whether he or Shaun Livingston would be the starter.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom's 6½-month-old son has died, a spokesman for the team said Thursday. Jayden Odom died Wednesday night, apparently suffocating while sleeping in his crib in New York, according to John Black. "Lamar is very distraught," Black said. "Both he and the baby's mother are asking that people respect their privacy at this time." Jayden was born Dec. 15. Odom has two older children -- a son and a daughter.
  22. Morrison's NBA Career will = Danny Ferry's NBA Career.
  23. Its not our fault the idiot NBA execs decided to let Carney fall all the way to 16th and picked Small, Slow Reddick ahead of him. We both should get 500 points for being smarter then the GMs.
  24. Could you cancel my bet for Carney not in top 10. After to listening to Draft talk today I feel Carney goes to GS at #9.
