Garnett is an athletic power forward still searching for his first NBA title after spending his first 12 years in the league with the Timberwolves. "This is probably my best opportunity of winning a (championship) ring," Garnett told reporters. The Celtics will ship to the Timberwolves forwards Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, center Theo Ratliff, guard Sebastian Telfair and two first-round draft picks. At 6-foot-11, 253 pounds, the 31-year-old Garnett is one of only five players in NBA history to amass at least 19,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists. Garnett, the 2004 league MVP, originally balked at getting traded to Boston, a youthful team that finished with the second-worst record in the NBA last season at 24-58. But he said the Celtics' draft-day acquisition of 32-year-old seven-times All-Star guard Ray Allen helped change his mind.

"He is under contract and I think you all know what our position is on that. I don't want to make any statements on that." In his gut, Mara said he feels the 35-year-old Strahan would eventually decide to play, but he said the team was prepared to move on without him.

Following Chagaev's decision to not fight, Ibragimov's promoters announced that Holyfield would fill the card in a quest to win the the heavyweight title for a fifth time. Holyfield will be fighting in Russia for the first time.

300 million people in this country. Of course your not alone. I am a big believer that the baseball HOF is saturated with mediocre players already. Kirby Puckett didnt deserve entry and niether did Paul Molitor to name a couple. The HOF should be for elite players only. If Canseco didnt admit that he used steroids for his ENTIRE career, he would deserve to be in. Mac should be in at some point but all he did was hit HR. He couldnt field, couldn't run, he just hit HR. He shouldnt even be mentioned in the same paragraph as players like Mantle, Mays and Aaron.
