  1. Pedroia and Braun won the ROY awards for this season. Braun only beat out Tulowitzki by 2 points.
  2. The University of Memphis's Women's soccer team won the Conference UAS Championship. They will soon find out who they play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. U of M has great athletic teams year in and year out. Some of them go up and down over the years, but this is just another example of the great sports which Memphiand get to be fans of on the collegiate level. In the past there have been great teams here for men's basketball, women's basketball, pop pop squaf, cheerleading, baseball, softball, I believe the golf teams have done good some years, and now soccer. http://gotigersgo.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer.../111107aaa.html

    75/100 68/100
  4. That would make sense although Rogers in particular I just keep waiting for him to stop doing well. If they could just have a few good starters and a couple mediocre ones then like you said have those 3 relievers in the pen it would be very good though. And the fact that any of the three relievers CAN pitch 2 innings if necessary. So I would say a couple of their starters would only have to go 5 and they could go right to the main 3 on those rare occasions. lol As for the deal itself, I don't have an opinion on whether it was a good deal as far as the exchange. I do like Lidge pretty much. It's honestly not easy to decide what Myers' role should be becuase 1. he has had injury history and 2. he did great as closer, but then some games he really sucked at it, just not as much as Gordon would have.
  5. The Tampa Bay baseball team will now be called the Tampa Bay Rays.

65/100 64/100 1/10 3's (lol made my first one then missed 9 straight)
  7. How stupid. I guess Myers will go back to starting. I dunno though, maybe they want Lidge to set up Myers. If I were them I guess I would use Lidge to close and Myers to start. But they should have just traded for a good starter and kept Myers the closer possibly.
  8. First Michigan lost its season opener in football to a Division 2 team. Now Michigan State and Ohio State (that's right, last year's second best team) have both lost to Division 2 teams in basketball.
  9. Now 2-0 on the season. Another great Gme by Rose. He had 21 points in 25 minutes. The first day he had 17 points in about the same minutes. Now we have an exhibition game Monday then a few days later we will most likely play Oklahoma and then either UCONN or Kentucky.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/powerranking...2008&week=1 This shows that they just put who they want at #1. lol Becuase look closely at it. If you look at the detailed votes from the panel you will see Memphis was voted #1 more than North Carolina and if you add up the rankings Memphis comes in at 20 and North Carolina 21. (with lowest total being best) yet they show North Carolina as #1. lol In other words on average lists memphis is ranked 2.00 while North carolina is ranked 2.10 yet somehow they translate that into North Carolina is ranked #1. lol
  11. And the season begins with a 2 point Richmond win and a 31 point Memphis win. We now play tomorrow and I believe another regional starts tomorrow also. i think it's the Kentucky or UCONN one.

In his Memphis debut, Derrick Rose scored 17 points, had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and only 1 turnover. He shall be in some highlights on Sports Center tonight, I guarantee. He had 2 dunks also. edit: actually he had 4 dunks, not 2.
  13. The NCAA Regular season begins today with both games here in Memphis. My school's game is on ESPNU, but I don't have it so oh well.
  14. Joe Torre, as usual, went against several things he said and signed with the Dodgers for the next 3 years. First off he gets a hugs pay cut, a bigger one epr season than he would have with the Yankees. Second off he said he didn't want to move and yet he accepted a job completely across the country.
  15. http://commercialappeal.com/news/2007/nov/...gers-atop-poll/ Looks like there is a pretty good chance Memphis will be #1 tomorrow on the AP Poll. But of course they only asked 1/7 of the voters who they picked. Of those.... Memphis would be #1 though.
  16. Well I guess at the going rate he is worth it honestly.

This same story was already 2 from the top... You've posted before saying people need to not repeat already existing topics and rather respond to existing ones. lol Not that I care. You do.
  18. Girardi is obviously the new manager. Smart move compared to Mattingly I believe. But people are writing columns saying how stupid they are to have ruined their chances of keeping arod. One interesting tidbit on arod is some think he will go to the Cube and go back to shortstop which would probably increase his fantasy value. Although not I would actually say there are more good shortstops than thirdbasemen already.

Boston was the best team this year, despite me not liking them.
  20. You should have acted sooner and got him.

Alex Rodriguez will no longer be a Yankee. All of the unappreciative fans will have what they wished for now as the Yankees continue their future downfall from playoff runs. Arod has decided to opt out of his contract and the Yankees made it very clear he will not be back if he opted out. Now if only Manny and Ortiz were not on the Red Sox, both of the teams I hate most would be headed the direction I want. lol

As I feared, the Rockies have just flat crumbled. They did make a nice game of it for game 3 though. But they just don't have really any chance at all unfortunately. This backs up what I said about how much greater the AL was than the NL this year, but I sure didn't want this to happen. They are making the rockies look like a mediocre team.

lol several athletes have.... not been so smart this year.

I agree with at least 3 of Aaron's 4 I think, but I don't like any of them other than the Colts. Not sure about the fourth yet.
  25. The official ESPN/USA Today Coach's Poll has been released. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/polls?poll=3 It is almost a total tie for first place. The top three teams have almost the same number of first place votes and almost the same number of total points.
