Darius Washington and Shawne Williams announced they are making themselves eligible for the NBA draft. 1. Rodney Carney will for sure be a top 10 pick, maybe top 5. 2. Darius Washington will ahve a tough time being drafted, but he has no choice really because we have a star PG coming in so there probably would not be room for Darius anymore. 3. Shawne Williams wants to be a top 20 pick. Calipari said if he is not a top 12 pick he would suggest Shawne change his mind and come back to Memphis. Calipari also said if he and the other coaches do their jobs properly next year, we should have 3 more going pro next year. He was saying that we should get even better and better recruits now because the nation's high schoolers will now see that Calipari and the other coaching staff ehre kinow how to get players to the pros quick. He also said the program is set up to where we will be a top 10 team AT LEAST for the next 5 years, even if he were to leave at some pointt o go to another school.

Yesterday Memphis tied the NCAA double play turning record by turning 7 DPs in a game.

If Calipari does indeed stay, it shows he isn't only after money. Without incentives he will make about $1.3 million per year supposedly and up to $1.7. But reports say N.C. State offered him almost $2 million per year! It is also rumored if he stays, it is possible BOTH our stars may skip going pro until next year. If so, we will win the national championship frankly. We have 3 great new players coming, many guys improving from freshmen to sophomores, and the only loss of a guy averaging 10+ minutes per game would be Carney.

It has been reported Calipari is about to sign a contract to stay at memphis. I hope it turns out to be true. Also it is rumored Shawne Williams is going to stay ins chool 1 more year when most people assumed he would leave Memphis for the pros. If both of these are true, go ahead and write Memphis down as next year's national champs.

If Calipari signs with N.C. State, someone is going to REALLY get trashed here. Whether it be Calipari for leaving or the staff at U of M for letting him go. Calipari does not like that his assistants are paid less than the Tennessee team's assistants. And I think he feels like Memphis isn't being fair enough with his PERSONAL salary either. If he does leave then Memphis will VERY quickly be a terrible team. It is too impossible to find a recruitor like him and also a coach of top quality. Some local radio host talked to Cal on the phone and it APPEARS he is staying at Memphis. But you know how that works. They will claim anything rather than tell the truth. He could just be being polite.
