I have been testing IPB 2.1. So I am posting to tell some changes to the forum and then it will make it where a few more things could be given at different post counts.

topic rating- you can rate topics. also pics and blogs of course.

display name- you now will have a login name AND a display name. You should probably make them DIFFERENT where it is MUCH harder for someone to figure out a way to break into your account. Your display name is the name that is on all your posts. You can change it YOURSELF as often as I allow you to. I will do it where you can only change it once per certain # of days, depending on which members group you are in.

members active list for blogs and photo galleries- see who is viewing them, including even seeing who is in the actual blog you are viewing.

particular group can be editors on someone's blog

You can make a "club" blog where only people you want to be able to read it can. Also for photo gallery you can allow certain people from your forum buddy list to view pics.

more poll questions/choices- I can make it where 1. you can make however many questions I allow you to. and 2. more choices for them. So all in the same poll you maya sk mroe than 1 thing.

many text colors- when you are posting a message, it now will have icons for a lot of things, including color. So a big square of colors is there and you click on the color you want. Thus you can do different shades easier.

easier editing- you can do a quick edit where it simply changes your post into an area for typing once again. So you NEVER leave the page you posted on. It updates it right on the page.

aligning- align text on left or right in posts just by clicking the icon.

inserting email addy- makes it where you can put an email address in a post and click it to email someone just from clicking an icon. I assume you already can with code.

more text sizes- 7 sizes on a dropdown menu. Most of these things you can probably do, but just arent as obvious on the current version.

topic open/close times- Admins and global mods can set a time for a topic to open and/or close. COuld come in handy. For some reason they arent making it where members can! I could probably somehow allow them once at a certian post count though.

background colOr- background colors in posts just from clicking the icon again.

indent- wow exciting one, huh?

Oh also polls can be added in topics later on. And rather than clicking something thats ays "add poll" you just do "add topic" and then you click somehting in it if you want to add a poll.

The forum SHOULD be faster when this version is used also.

Since the community here is small, I am risking the upgrade without this being a stable release. It wont affect posts anyway since theya re stored in the database. Just in case, I backed up my DB though.

I will now upgrade blogs to the beta version because I am the only one eevn using it anwyay so far basically. lol

I have to redo the skin and import the smileys too.

I made this show up at the top of the forum. The newest topic in this forum area will always show up there.

The forum seems a tad slow even though it is supposed to be faster. I dont know if that will last until the OFFICIAL upgrade is out or not.

The photo gallery... I may try that upgrade too but it will not be released until Tuesday.

Also just recounted posts since it said we only have less than 200 posts. lol

thanks. so far you have probably seen the editing is different. Also creating topics, the poll options are in the topic.

I have a lot of settings to change so I am not sure if some things are allowed that I dont want allowed yet.

I am having issues, such as blogs and pics disappearing. I am thinking I probably have to install them all over to make them work with this version. I also need to upload smileys again.

I have now installed the beta version of the blog update. Some of the new features include it showing members viewing them at the bottom of the main blogs page and then if a user wants they can add a "content block" to show who is viewing their actual entry. Also you can now move contact blocks by dragging and dropping them rather than having to do it in more annoying manners. A few other settings are there and some more are being finalized for the next upgrade, i believe.

So anyway please bear with things. As far as the forum upgrade, there were 5 beta versions befoe this one and I kept ignoring them. So hopefully since this is the sxth version of it, there wont be many errors left I am hoping! I will have to upgrade more times as they release new upgrades which will fix any issues we may have.

Since people dont use gallery much, I may even do that upgrade Tuesday when it is out. It will be its fourth beta. This blog is beta 1, so may have some bugs.

I am not sure if I can get gallery set back up before Tuesday or not. I am not sure if I have to reinstall it to work on this new forum software or if I would lose thigns if I did that.

the correct look to the forum should be the default now... And the new group of emoticons.

For some reason when pages are done loading it says they loaded with errors though. So far it hasn't caused any problem....

The forum is upgraded to 2.1 RC1

Just a few minutes ago I upgraded blogs to 1.2 RC1

On a test forum I have photo galler 2.0 BETA4

If I cant fix this stupid problem where text color, background color, etc... are not working properly in posts, since they ARE working fine on my test forum, I may set the test forum up totally as this forum and have it use THIS database. Then if it seems fine, I will delete this entire forum in this directory and then MOVE the other to ehre.

The final result then should be that this forum would be exactly the same EXCEPT editing would work (the icons). As long as i move necessary files from this one to that one first.

I fixed an error and thus the forum is updated to 2.1.0 FINAL now.

Photo Gallery will be back later TODAY. It will be version RC1, but theguy in charge of it says it will be stable enough to use now. THE FINAL version will be out next week. This new version has a new look and many new features.

Blogs has not has a problem anyway. It will be FINAL next week also apparently. I still love blogs. Nobody else seems to like it, but I think it is kind of cool to just throw out some info about your day in those instad of using regular forum space for it. Also then people who dont care do not have to go through your posts on a regular forum area.

I may change the look of the forum. I like the blue, I like the black but not as much. So I dont know.

I may use a different skin each month? I dont know.

Just keeping everyone up to date. There SHOULD be fewer problems now. But the posts table does mess up sometimes. I back it up where we wont lose it all if something happens. i dont know what causes it to keep being corrupt.

The guy who does photo gallery "got mixed up" on his dates and it is really out tomorrow, not today.

So at least by late afternoon tomorrow gallery will be back. Maybe n the morning depending on when he releases it and when i go to bed.

Quite a few new things to it I think. You guys probably already havent noticed al the opriginal features on it OR blogs though since people havent used them much.

I definitely encourage people to use them. I like them or I wouldnt say to. I may get chat, but that is one I DONT think is so great. I am not saying i like these just for no reason. I think it is ncie being able to get to photos or blogs real quick rather than people posting them in regular topics. And cool features too, such as "favorites" and posting movies. (both when you get to higher user group levels).

No clue if photo gallery will be back today. He made another beta and it has WAY too many bugs. He is SUPPOSEDLY coming out with RC1 today. But he has said that 3 straight days and now there are a lot of bugs left to fix!

So i may risk a version today or it may be next week. It is annoying they keep saying dates then think it is fine to not release them when many people have now upgraded their forujms.

Well now Adam (photo gallery guy) said this # of bugs does not scare him adn i saw he just solved 3 bugs in the past few minutes. So hopefully it will be finished today still.

Will get arcade set up later. If I dont rememebr how to get the link up there I will just tell it to people or something.

Gallery is back up, but will have some bugs until Monday. Mainly if you have not already created an album, you can't do it, I dont think. If you click on "my albums" in your control panel, it will not work. The final version will be released Monday apparently though.

Many many problems were in Gallery 2.0 RC3.

Today he released 2.0 FINAL however, and I just tested the problems I was getting and all are gone.

Most thigns should work fine now. Forum, Gallery, and Blogs have all gone FINAL ewwith new versions. Although IPB 2.1.1 will be out ina day or two to fix yet more issues with 2.1.0

The only problems I see in gallery now are 1. I am not sure if e-cards are being sent, although I ahvent given any groups e-card permission yet other than myself. I will probably allow anyone to use them because if someone does use it then itbrings people to the site to see the e-card.

Also a button under the pic shown on the first page of gallery which said "options" which goes right next to "details" is gone. He may have got rid of it on purpose though becuase it was opening in a weird position.

Some pics are missing. I see 1 of chels' and 1 of lynne's missing. Also on the members galleries index page, it doesnt show all albums.

Updated to 2.0.2 and still a couple problems. Mainly e-cards not working 100% and if you make a private album, it isn't correctly letting people you choose to look at it actually see them.

Not that anyone cares, but I skipped 2.1.2 and am now moving to 2.1.3 and it is going to take many hours of editing files before I can upload it. I hope to have it done before tomorrow. Who knows, it may take ages to re-edit these 20 modifications.

If anything doesn't work once I upgrade, let me know because I am sure I will forget some edits.

I have now upgraded. I worked my ass off.

Total time in a row editing files, uploading, running difference reports on html, changing html bits, and fixing problems with edits(barely even any breaks): Approximately 13 hours. Take out breaks and I spent 12 hours tonight upgrading this forum.

It was important to upgrade from 2.1.1 to 2.1.3 because it fixed approximately a whopping 125 problems with the software. Out of all that time editing, I only made a few mistakes. One file had 1 too amny )s, 1 file I accidentally pasted after a " instead of before it, 1 file they added in a little piece themselves which emssed me up, and 1 file (arcade online list on front page I simply forgot to do.

I will try to tell some new things later. Most are bugt fixes, but a few new things also.

I need to test buttons in this posting box to be sure they work and that uploads work.

ok the actual spoiler button does not work. so use the tags for now. I will try locks later today. Uploading a pic worked. So it seems as if Ihave got everything modded back correctly except for the spoiler button. Now if only I had members who want to post. ONE post for yesterday/today combined by everyone. this is why I need to just go get whoever. I keep not finding interested people though. So oh well.

Sigh, another fun night of finding and solving problems. Cool huh? I just now noticed the list in each topic of people who viewed it today was not working. I had reverted a skin edit by accident. I redid it, works fine. NO BUTTONS in standard editor worked. Why? For some VERY odd reason it did it because of where I pasted code for the spoiler button in a file. I had it IN THEE SAME LIST as it was supposed to be, yet it messed up editor. I have no clue why because other things can be moved around in that list!

So now the only thing I see not working is there is no spoiler button in rich text editor and also there is no lock button in it, but that is because viper didnt make a button for editor. I may be able to figure out how though.

Please let me know if you see something nt working. I doubt anyone will ever notice though since nobody cares about posting.

Upgraded. Only fixed bugs, no new features that I notice. Just letting people know I am still always looking to improve everything here.

Took me forever, but I upgraded to 2.1.4.

Not much new. Over 100 bugs fixed, now the edited by line isnt automatically shown when you do a quick edit, the link to "bb code help" is back under smileys again, and some other little things here and there.

I already upgraded gallery and blogs last week. I am mainly posting this to let you know I am still spending a lot of time improving and also to point out a few issues.

1. I have not re-installed the lock modification because it is very lengthy to install. I may do it later.

2. I havent yet re0installed reputation modification. That is also very lengthy. Both of those would take a combined 2-4 hours just for those 2 and I need to go to bed now.

3. The problem is back again on the front page where it loads with an error and the list doesnt refresh in real-time. Dean will have to fix it again. He said he fixed the instructions, but obviously he didnt since I used the newest version and it did the same error.

4. IF YOU SEE ANYTHING NOT WORKING PROPERLY, please tell me. It took about 6-7 hours to redo the edits and look at template difference reports to be sure which templates I needed to change.

I noticed the link to posts under your avatars does not work properly. Otherwise, i dont see any problems so far, except those I just mentioned.

edit: fixed the posts link under avatars. So it appears everything is working exactly right now. Anything not working properly is simply because I havent installed it back or in casde of spoilers I didnt change a file which I changed before.

Oh also another mod I have not added back yet is the # viewing per forum. Because I am deciding which of 2 modifications to use. Neither is working exactly the way I want.

I am adding a few new things later today also and most likely reviews is about where it needs to be do be used later today.

You do a great job on the site. Keep up the good work.

I wish I could get through to members and guests that this could be much funner if they ever wanted it to be.

Anything someone doesnt like, I am always willing to listen to. If a topic (example: zelda games) gets popular, boom I will add on a section for it rather than keeping all of the same type of item only having posts in the same area. I keep adding features, upgrading, etc...

Another thing that goes un-noticed is that ads are MUCH less of an issues here than most places. Most popular places have annoying ones that pop up, follow you down a page, or are all voer the place.

Oh well. Really though, if the current members posted more, maybe others would join.

That may be true but then when someone makes a suggestion or points out an error, you call it complaining. Don't make me post the IM's or emails Ive recieved for asking for a Golf and Nascar topic. I could go on but I'll leave it at that.

That was after I said here not many would use them. And it is true. Nobody is using them. And after I said that, you still wanted them. Nobody cares about being here except us 2 anyway. Look how there are 41 members yet nobody other than us 2 have made even 1 post in probably 5 days.
