Gymnastics

Wwll the Olympic Trials have started for men and start for women Friday. None of the women's is on tv until Saturday night and then there is apparently more on Sunday. There are trials for diving and maybe other sports this weekend also. NBC has like 10 or so hours of Olympic Trials of various sports this weekend. I forgot to tell Lynne to take pics of Shayla. Ahhhhh. lol At least I assume Lynne went as she planned to.

Well Shawn Johnson won agajin. Nationals, championship, visa, whatever you want to call it.... lol Nastia did good again also.

I just randomly noticed thie was on tv right now. It's the first time I think I've ever seen gymnastics be in high definition also. The last couple meets were shown in standard resolution.

I am reminding myself that it is televised Saturday....

Nastia Liukin struggled during most of the competition, but did get the highest score anyone got for a single event (bars). I thought Shayla Worley did good in some events. Shawn is more the type who could win an Olympic Gold though, as she can do very very good events on any aparatus and she had some almost perfect dismounts. Megan has a picture of Shawn in her photo album on here, by the way. She was talking about her to me a couple years ago when she was still a junior.

Pretty sad that the forum which most of you are from (amg) has had nothing about Carly having a book out. lol That place used to be up-to-date with all of this. So for anyone who is interested, she has a book out called "Carly Patterson: Be Strong". It can be purchased at amazon.com also. I didn't even know about it until now.

ok so i guess im gonna come back to this topic whenever i have a meet but i've had 2 so far and heres the results lol Gasparilla (1st meet this season) Vault: 9.45 2nd Bars: 8.6 3rd Beam: 8.05 Floor: 8.825 AA: 34.925 1st qualifier (2nd meet) Vault: 9.35 1st Bars: 8.6 3rd Beam: 8.55 4th Floor: 8.95 3rd AA: 35.45 1st (our medals like light up its pretty amazing lol.)

Courtney won the all-around ina meet last week and was named the "gymnast of the week". Not sure if it is some national award or if this tv channel I was watching (CSTV) just named her that.

I forgot about this until I heard it on the radio today, and now I remember it well. Back in 1996, NBC was so dumb that they did not even show gymnastics live. Someone was complaining on the radio today that when the Olympics is held in other countries, NBC shows a lot of things on tape delay. Well back in 1996, it was IN THE U.S. and they STILL tape delayed gymnastics. They can be so dumb sometimes. And to top that off it was only tape delayed by an hour or two, I believe. So they should have just shown it live. Wow.

yay today I got a ring jump ON BEAM! i think i might compete it friday but i am not sure yet because I want to get confident with the skill first. so yeah but i am really excited!!

Didnt go as well as I hoped.... We had the toughest judges I have like ever had!! scores: VT: 8.9 yay! 2nd (highest vault of my team) UB: 7.5 booo 3rd (highest bars of my team) BB: 7.25 boooo they didnt count ANY of my connections except my dismount! 5th FX: 8.425 booo I didnt have 3 passes cuz I guess I cant do my front full tucked? yeah, STUPID, but I got 4th AA 32.075 SUCKY and 3rd (highest AA of my team) And my team lost BUT STILL no one on my team has beaten me on vault since the last meet of my 8th grade season...yea...I am in 11th now.

ok so i made it to the state competition and here are my scores!!! vault: 9.05 (highest out of my team) 4th Bars: 7.525 (fell coming out of my clear hip lol) Beam: 8.4 (fell on a STUPID spllit leap, i was so mad because i normally fall on my backwalkover lol) Floor: 8.975 6th AA: 34.0 8th so i finally did my dimopunt on bars. i dont know why they didnt let me do it sooner because it was perfect lol but no it was REALLY good! and i stuck it and no spot of course! lol so yay! my teammates and i are hoping to be moved up to train level 7 but who knows anyways i have to go. i might not be on much until my winter break because i have some midterms coming up and i am g…

So here's where we get to hear about all the super cool things Megan talked to awesomely crazy gymnasts about... geez, Megan's so smart, that's IF she wants to share them with us though. Either way, I think it's too late to get my letter to Shayla before Nationals so I'm writing her and Shawn and Chellsie afterwards .

just to let you all know, my last meet SUCKED... lol it was our home meet. so i fell on bars and beam lol you can see the scores in my signature. i also have another meet this weekend. hopefully i do better.

Next week, Tuesday and Wednesday is the annual Glasgow Grand Prix up in Scotland, part of the World Cup circuit. I'll be going as an acredited photographer so will be taking loads of photos. I am sooooo excited about seeing Shavahn Church compete for Great Britain for the first time! I will make sure I take loads of photos of her especially. I will be back Thursday and let you know how it was, who I met, if I got any gossip etc. I'm away Monday - Thursday.

I finally got my backhandspring back on high beam today ALL BY MYSELF just the beam and me!! omg...I am sooooooo excited!! I have been working all spring summer and fall for this and I finally got it! No more fear!! I am so happy yay me! :yay:
