I really never looked closely at thew setup for subscribing to topics(threads) before. I thought if you do this, you must then receive emails. However, in reality you have options and can set it up to only keep track of the threads in your controls and not have to receive emails when someone posts in those topics.

This would especially be useful if the site gets active. It is like a bookmarking method where you will not lose track of your favorite topics, jumbled amongst new topics being created each day.

At this point subscriptions are free, although some sites charge money to have them.
