ok, guys temporarily my new site will go to a hidden zelda forum from gottalk.com. In other words, you cant see it on the gottalk main page, but you get to it by going to gotzelda.com.

THIS MEANS, HOWEVER, that your cookie wont work there, so just login with your regular gottalk info on gotzelda.com and it will make your cookie to allow you there.

It will mask the gottalk addy and always say gotzelda.com while you use the gottalk site.

I think later I may make a skin set to the zelda forum and use zelda buttons.

This is all temporary till I find another use for the site.

If this site does not take off soon, I think I will just leave this site with no further updates and use my license for updates on gotzelda.com and make that site totally different from this one. I could make that one be very zelda specific. Instead of these groups, that one could have groups related to that series. It also could have custom fields for favorite charcter, favorite game, and numerous other things.

In fact I think I will indeed do that. BUT if this site seems possible at expanding out, then I will buy licenses for both and keep updating.

So in other words the popularity of THIS site will determine whether I get licenses for both or not.

If so, I can use the new free IP product called Converge and make it where your usernames would work on either site also.

Currently, gotzelda.com is only POINTING to part of THIS site. This post is telling you I will make it a COMPLETELY different forum on gotzelda.com.

I guess it also depends on how I can get a lot of zelda fans to it though.

You know what, I think this is the best idea you've had.

The problem with sites like this, not just yours, is that there's way too many general topics. You need to be focused on forums. Whether your content is porn, or sports, or Zelda, you've got to have a central theme to keep people interested. :)

For the Zelda forum, I'll pitch in and help out with some skinning stuff in my spare time, if you want. :D

You need to really sit down and brainstorm on what you want your sites to be.

Yes, exactly. General dicussion forums are tough. I know of one which is VERY huge, with literally thousands of members on at the same time. But it's tough. You have to have a good idea to get people WANTING to post.

I kind of agree with your other topic about having too many mods. The zelda site will have a few this one doesn't, but probably won't have as many. A lot of my mods here are posting related though, to make posting itself more convenient. And I definitely love the refresh online list mod more than probably any mod here.

I am hoping to get a good, custom RPG mod made for the zelda site. It's tough finding anyone to do it, regardless of how much I could possibly pay though.

Yes, I definitely need skinning help. On Invisionize I already asked for anyone who has time to submit possible logos (with graphics from the twilight princess game possibly, or link and a sword, or just anything else really and say Got Zelda?" possibly with or without the question mark. Possibly will rotate a lot of good ones if I get many people to make any. I also probably want a green skin, but have not really decided on specifics of how i would want it.

I own a fantasy baseball url and wouldn't mind having a sports forum separate from others, like you said to have a more specific topic. And I have a degree in meteorology, so considered that, but there is already a popular weather forum. Besides I have no job right now, so I can't keep tossing out money for 100 forum licenses. lol But anyway I just love managing forums and hope to get one to become popular. Hopefully get a lot of zelda fans on the other site then connect the forums when 2.2 is out and thus maybe that can make this one more popular.

This one is more for teens really because most people I found to come here are teens, even though I am in my 20's. I have been told before that getting teen girls to a site makes it popular (idolforums.com) because they talk a lot. lol

Anyway, thanks very much for your input and possible skinning help. I am TERRIBLE at skinning.

Wow, this guy from Invisionize has done great already on designing a nice skin for me. Mainly what I need though are maybe 5 logos that I can rotate. Or 2 or 3 at least. He is doing a great job on that skin! Only problem is I noticed someone else happened to request a zelda skin, so I bet he will end up using the same one, and I would rather have it unique. ALthough he needs it for an Invisionfree forum, so I guess he couldn't use it exactly how mine is, but maybe the guy would modify it for him. Sigh.

Well that's the problem with free stuff, unfortunately. :(

Well, that and a few other skinning sites that reuse skins. >_<

I would absolutely hate going to a site with thousands of members on at the same time if I wasn't one of the originals. Just something about being one of the ones that helped make it what it is makes it cool. :D

I agree with the teen girls thing, but maybe not because they like to talk.  There's just something about that too. :p

I wouldn't like it with thousands on at once either. I personally would love it if there was an average of anywhere from 50-100 on at once, I would say.

Well I got my hosting account set up for multipls site hosting and already transferred my sites over and have the nameservers pointed properly. So after I flushed my DNS, they are already showing properly. I have nothing on them yet though.

I would LIKE to have the site at least "there" within 1-2 days because Nintendo is about to announce the official release date, the Wii release date, and the Wii price. Probably will be announced later today or tomorrow and I would like to have the story on my zelda site the day it breaks, regardless of whether it is stilla test site or the real thing.

I am currently looking into buying licenses from several people for this site and that one. If they don;'t hurtry, I may have to go ahead and buy 1 from IPS direct and get started. I am hoping to buy 2 perpetuals or maybe 1 perpetual and 1 lifetime. But if these people don't hurry, I may just buy a yearly one again for now, which is really a waste since I know I will eventually want a higher one.

I am now using IPB 2.2 on the zelda site, in case anyone wants to join it. It is far from decided how I want to do things there though. A points system can't yet be put into place for a 2.2 site, I have not yet made user groups how I want, I have not come up with any cool new things there (other than I am using a new type of spoiler tag), and the zelda skin there is not yet converted to 2.2 style. Also I am unsure if I will purchase blogs or gallery for the site, thus they arent there. I will probably buy gallery, but not blogs, I am thinking.
