January 19, 200620 yr Author comment_5120 Beat Tennessee by 9. We are now 16-2. Assuming we dont let our guard down Saturday against a mediocre team, we will move up if Florida or UCONN lose to their tough opponents. We only have 2 games against UAB as our only tough games remaining, and those are medium toughness and they have a main guy hurt. If we TRY, we could win ever game remaining.
January 23, 200620 yr Author comment_5179 Kareem Cooper arrested for marijuana possession. I assume this will end with him being kicked off the team. Hopefully he can stay on till he is sentenced or something.... He is not a starter, but is supposed to end up being a great player.
January 24, 200620 yr comment_5181 on a side note, Michael Jabbar will sign a contract with the Lakers.
January 25, 200620 yr Author comment_5199 Calipari decided not to kick Cooper off the team. He is only suspended indefinitely and will be back at some point. He is one of our many future NBA stars, so I am glad. We have a tough game Thursday. The only remaining team who has MUCH shot at beating us. I hope we play well. We need to win basically every game left to get the #1 seed, I am guessing.
February 3, 200620 yr Author comment_5295 People slighting Memphis are only making us be more sharp and ferocious. They don't like that espn still shows lower ranked teams' highlights before ours and in fact usually dont show ours AT ALL. So they are dedicated to keep winning since they are treated unfairly. On a side note, our women's team is 2-18. lol
February 11, 200620 yr Author comment_5384 Memphis keeps on trucking. We have a game today at 3 P.M.. We already ahve tied our best start in history at 21-2. I hope Maryland finds some way to beat Duke. Then hopefully nextw eek UCONN would lose to Villanova and/or West Virginia. And hopefully ewe keep winning. After today we only have 6 regular season games left. If we were to never lose again and also win the national championship, we would finish the season 37-2.
February 15, 200620 yr Author comment_5431 Some guy said Memphis MAY not be a #1 even if they never lose again unless Villanova or UCONN 1 or the other falls apart. And we COULD be a #1 even with 1 more loss also though.
February 15, 200620 yr comment_5432 Thats why I'm now rooting for Memphis. They did a whole March madness thing on the radio here and pretty much glossed over Memphis.
February 16, 200620 yr Author comment_5442 Yeah, exactly how it is everywhere. Would make it so much cooler if we win the national championship. Notice on sports center all year they have been showing the #1 team, then #2, then they skip to like #20 and leave memphis totally out. It is ridiculous. For the second time in 3 years though ESPN is following our team around this month and airing national shows showing what it's like to be around our team! So look for that on tv soon.
February 19, 200620 yr Author comment_5472 Memphis wins 105-65 on the road against a team who gives up an average of 53 per game. We never slowed up. Beat them by 20 first half and 20 second half. One of our top players who almost skipped us for the pros (in fact he even declared for last year's NBA draft then changed his mind) did not even play due to a bruise. We now have our best start (24-2) in school history with the only 2 losses to teams in the top 6 in the country. One of which officials cost us (Duke). Nobody has more than our 13 straight wins, I don't believe. We are 10-0 on the road, the only team in all of basketball undefeated on the road (I assume that would even include the NBA). NOTE: Our game Wednesday night at 9 P.M. CT is on espn, the first antional broadcast of us on an espn channel in months.
February 23, 200620 yr Author comment_5512 Terrible game, but Memphis still managed to win by 10 for their 14'th straight win.
February 26, 200620 yr Author comment_5536 Memphis was losing to a terribvle team tonight with about 7:05 left in the game. Then we exploded for an 11-0 run and we ended up winning the game by 11 points, when it was all said and done also. Not enough to win Aaron points, but this was ncie. We needed a game like this where we sucked where we could get our heads back on straight. NORMALLY a great team LOSES this type of game and THAT teaches them a lesson. Hopefully we got our wake up call without losing. We have now won 15 in a row. The most any Memphis team has ever won in a row is 20.
February 26, 200620 yr Author comment_5544 Memphis has been in the top 5 on BOTH polls for 77 straight days and will continue being there AT LEAST 7 more in a row as we will now be 2 or 3 on both polls tomorrow. So if we win our 2 tough games this week, we will basically end up staying in the top 5 for the final 100+ days of the season/NCAA tourney.
February 28, 200620 yr Author comment_5553 espn followed Memphis' players around for 10 days and their special about us is on tonight on espn2 at midnight ET. Figures, huh? They give us so little respect, we always get pushed out of sight at bogus times. Should be interesting though. They followed us around 2 years ago also.
February 28, 200620 yr comment_5565 Guess it was as boring as it sounds. Atleast to people that dont folow Memphis basketball.
March 3, 200620 yr Author comment_5612 Tonight's game should be fun tow atch. If anyone loves seeing high-pacesd highs coring, dunk games, tonight is it. We both could very well score 90+. Tonight is our LAST road game of the season. If we win tonight we become the fourth team in five years to finish unbeaten on the road. Then we have one single game left, which is Saturday and would then finish unbeaten in the conference. And the conference tournament next week is here also. Our women's team got knocked out of the conference tourney today to finish their season 3-25. lol
March 3, 200620 yr Author comment_5614 As much as I like Calipari, he cost us this one. He idiotically had our best 2 players out of the game the whole final 5 minutes of the game! At least I can't blame this one 1% on the officials. They did fine. Just plain and simple Calipari made dumb decisions. I almost wanted this to happen because: 1. I have never known us to be so good that beating us causes storming the court by the road team's crowd. 2. We needed a loss to wake up our players before the ncaa tournament. So now no undefeated road record, no undefeated conference record, and barely hanging on to the #1 seed.
March 5, 200620 yr Author comment_5662 lol we have 15 first half turnovers and we only made 7 shots the whole half and we are somehow still only down by 2 at the break.
March 5, 200620 yr Author comment_5664 And Memphis wins by 7 and should now stay ahead of Duke and frankly we probably wont even drop a spot. UCONN will be #1, Villanova will be #2 if they win tomorrow. We SHOULD stay #3 because if we DON'T they would have to move Gonzaga ahead of us, who has the same record as us and lost to us this season.
March 9, 200619 yr Author comment_5825 Later today Memphis plays a team they beat by 40 a few weeks ago.
