Posted June 28, 200619 yr comment_7136 This is a side by side comparison from Circuit city on the 3 new sytems. If anybody can find a more in depth one, post it here. Biggest difference I see is that PS3 will be the only one to use HD DVD playback.

July 6, 200619 yr comment_7244 "Sony has done very little to justify why the system is worth a premium price for consumers that don't care about raw hardware performance and are not hard-core audio/visual consumers," DFC said. "Unfortunately we believe that represents over 90% of the consumers in the marketplace From what I hear this is complete bullshit. Ps3 will be $500. That will include the 20 gb HD and the ability to play new Blu Ray HD DVDs. 360 is $400 w/o the harddrive and no ability to play HD DVD's. Also Ps3 has the Hardrive built in. 360 you have to buy seperate and if you do that brings the price up to $500. This ONE analyst firm must have a bone to pick with Sony or some other reason because they are just assholes. I'll enjoy my Ps# come xmas.
July 21, 200619 yr comment_7440 http://www.gamespot.com/news/6154256.html Still saying Sony may finish last.
October 9, 200619 yr comment_7681 http://www.gamespot.com/news/6159406.html?...estnews;title;1 Nintendo already has 2 million wiis made, wheras Sony will only have 400,000 PS3 consoles available in the U.S., even on release date. So 6 weeks before release date Nintendo already has made more than 5 times as many consoles as Sony will have on release date. By the end of the year Nintendo will have a grand total of 9-11 million units released, if I understand correctly. Meanwhile Sony will have under 2 and 1/2 million. One thing talked up about the Sony is its blu-ray dvd player, but that is in fact what is keeping people from getting their PS3 this yea.r Now most will have to wait until 2007. Also it is unknown still whether blu-ray or HD-DVD will win out as the standard for dvd players. And many movies will only be able to be played on one or the other. So it's possible blu-ray could turn into the old BETA vcrs.
October 12, 200619 yr Author comment_7694 It dosent matter how many units are made its how many are sold. Having less made drives up demand and justifies the price tag. Blue Ray dvd players go for a grand by themselves. Your getting that plus more with ps3. Its not even fair to comapre the 2 in performance. Even if Blu Ray does turn out to Beta I didnt have to spend anything extra to experience it. Im buying ps3 for the games. The DVD player is a bonus for me.
October 12, 200619 yr comment_7695 But the dvd player is why it is not going to be available to many consumers this year. I figure there is some gimmick to the dvd player because it is true theya re normally $1,000, so it makes no sense that they would add in a good one in a unit that costs half that price. It must mean it will either be stripped down or else maybe they will lower their price for blu-ray recorders then. What sucks is some movies can ONLY be seen on blu-ray and some can only be seen on HD-DVD. Some people suggest that the best solution is buy the cheaper HD-DVD right now and then if blu-ray wins out, get it later at half its current cost and thus you basically get both formats for the price of the current blu-ray format.

Sony did create Beta so this could be their second failure and I wont care either way. I will be waiting until 1 finally wins out before I buy a new HTS. As for the Ps3 I think Sony makes more money off the game and accessories the just the basic unit itself. 60 bucks a game, 75 bucks for a controller, % of each blue ray movie sold. Getting the Kids involved in this Tech war might be what puts Blu Ray over the top this time around.
