TS Alberto ( Soon to be Hurricane Alberto )

Featured Replies

Tropical Storm Alberto now has 70 mph sustained winds with gust to near 85 mph. Alberto is expected to become a Category One hurricane by later this afternoon with sustained winds of 75 mph and gusts over 90 mph. He is moving NNE at around 7 mph and should make landfall south of the town of Perry, FL southeast of Tallahassee sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Once Alberto makes landfall and moves northeast, it should weaken considerably. However, rainfall and/or tornadoes will be the next threat as it moves up the coast. Areas across the eastern Carolinas can expect 4"-8" of rainfall through Thursday.

Here's an image I thought you would all be interested in. This image shows the different computer models that are used to forecast tropical systems.

What this shows is that those to the north in GA and AL aren't necessarily out of the woods yet as one model still brings it that way.

Yeah that is what is confusing with weather is there are several models for about any type of event and they sometimes contradict. Sometimes a certain model works better in a certain region or under certain circumstances though where they can lean towards one more than another.

Weather is very complicated and isn't understood well enough, thus why forecasts bust a lot.
