Got Talk is now being indexed on www.boardtracker.com

It is a very clever search engine site which searches only forums.

I have installed something called "topic tags" here on the forum! It is a way to get the topics here discovered even more often by people browsing other forums or boardtracker.com.

Now when you create a topic or edit an existing topic, there is a new field under topic title and topic description. It is called "Topic Tags". I edited that text beside its text box to be sure you know it is optional. You don't have to type in keywords.

However if the topic is one that has some obvious keywords to describe it, you can type in the keywords there!

Notice you separate the keywords by commas.

I did an example for you at: http://www.gottalk.com/index.php?showtopic=640

See the topic tag listed above the topic? I typed Barry Bonds in the Topic Tag Box when I created the topic.

If I had wanted more keywords, here is how it would have been entered into the box:

barry bonds,bonds,giants

Notice there are no spaces, simply commas separate them. That would have translated into 3 clickable keywords.

Don't go overboard. Just do an appropriate number of keywords for your topics. Usually 1-3. Many topics may not need ANY topic tag. For instance this one I am typing now doesn't need any and would be pointless to enter one for this.

I think the guy who made that site is brilliant! I haven't even told you everything he has done which is very clever!

Another thing I will add soon is "clouds" which is a group of many keywords I can put on the main forum page which show the most popular searched tags!

I currently have this set to search ALL sites on boardtracker.com when you click a topic tag. I cans et it to only search OUR topics, but the only way I would think that would be necessary is ifI lose members from here to other sites.

At this point, I think it is much more likely I would GAIN members than lose them.

I hope people will be active again soon to help me get this site noticed and more members join. I have been working a long time on this site and am open to any potential changes which could make this place more enjoyable for everyone.

Thank You For Your Help!

Jason

(By the way, the member named BoardTracker on here is a search engine bot used to scan the topics here. That is also why at this moment that barry bonds topic does not show up on boardtracker.com when clicking the topic tag. It has to be scanned by their site first).
