If you want to try to get new members, go into "your controls" and the referral area of setting s which is now there and click on send referrals. ( or go directly to http://www.gottalk.com/index.php?autocom=referal )

You can then use the gmail link to retrieve your address book and check the boxes by people you want to invite. (as is noted on that screen, nobody gets your info, you are just logging into your account). When the people click the link in the email sent they will show up here. Even if they then explore before signing up, it is still stored in a temporary cookie who brought them here. Or they can type it in manually if for some reason it doesn't work or they come back to register later.

Or you can do it manually by entering an email address if you don't want to log into your account.

I also can add yahoo, hotmail, and other such email address books soon, but it would cost me so I will only do that if people end up wanting to refer people from those particular lists.

Anyway then you get points for them signing up and points for them progressing through different groups here. In other words, the more they post the more points you would get. Also you get points when THEY refer new people too. Although I am not sure if that is working properly or not.

The only problems I currently see are that when a user is banned it is taking too many points away, points dont seem to be adding for SECOND-HAND referrals. In other words if a guy you refer then refers someone else, that MAY not be working properly (I tested it), and also the PM popup does not work right when you FIRST LOGIN for the first time. Now that MAY be this mod's fault or it may be the new "welcome message" mod I installed causing it!

Also contests can be set up for referring and prizes then given.

This is justa first step. As it gets more active, points will mean more.

Oh yeah... and you are given a link in your referrals section which you can give out and thus you dont have to email people. For example you could advertise the site somewhere, but instead of simply saying go to gottalk.com you could give your PERSONAL link in your controls area and every person clicking that link and registering would thus give you 100 new points!

So hopefully soon some of you find some new people.

Thanks.

I justw anted to remind people if you want to tell people a link to come here, click on "Refer" at the top of the screen (under the top logo) and then on the next page you will see a link which you can give out and get points if they register.

It doesn't matter to me which link people come here by, but it gives you points when they register. And at some point points may matter if I give out things for points.

Somehow need to get people here again.

I try about everything. :) I even made a character on mario kart whose name is GotTalk.co (it doesnt allow mroe than 10 characters so i couldn't fit the m lol) and it would be good if others happen to think of some way to get people not just coming here, but wanting to post and get into conversations.
