Posted March 5, 200620 yr comment_5676 So I thought my first post should be me venting over Kerry Wood having another surgery. This time it's on his knee - which is says doesn't even bother him when he pitches - that he's having arthoroscopic work done on. Supposedly it'll be two week recovery time, but by then his arm strength will have gone down and he'll have to throw thirty five simulated games, and then do minor league stuff for a week or four. Its gonna be August again until we see him, I swear. I'm glad their being proactive about it, instead of just the 'suck it up and deal' they tried with his shoulder last season. BUT STILL. This is SO not how I wanted to start this season. Although Prior is healthy so it was only a matter of time until the Prior-and-Wood-can't-be-healthy-at-the-same-time law of nature went into effect. Why? WHY? At least I have Derrek Lee. Edited January 7, 200719 yr by Jason
March 5, 200620 yr comment_5678 Sorry to tell you but all reports have Prior not being 100% yet. Still a few weeks away from the regualr season opener but the cubs are already making plans on openoing without him. As for Kery wood, he wasnt going to be ready until late May or June anyway so its not a bad idea for him to get this surgery out of the way now. His arm strength is about mush right now so it can't get much worse.
March 6, 200620 yr comment_5680 Wood is one of my favorite pitchers ever. I hated seeing that about his knee surgery. I wonder if they will try to use him as a reliever again. I sure hope not. I love when he can pick up a ton of k's in a game.

March 10, 200619 yr Author comment_5877 well I already knew about Prior but we'll see how he does in spring training today. And Kerry is already back with the team, and threw 90 pitches the other day. Heck, thats more than Prior so maybe its not such a disaster. Too bad for Carlos sucking the big one in the Venezuela/DR WBC game. That was kind of hard to watch. I hate it when he gets all wound up like that, he can't focus. But I love him anyway... May 3, 200619 yr comment_6511 Wood gave up only 1 hit in 5 innings last night while striking out 9. His fastball the previous start was 95. So I am happy since I have him on the bench in 1 league. I bethe will start in the majors a week from friday or saturday. (around the 12'th or 13th. I dunno why they dont just use him in the majors Sunday instead of minors, after this great start.
May 8, 200619 yr comment_6552 Once again Wood gave up 1 hit in 5 innings, struck out 12, and again scoreless. His heater maxed out at 97. He is gonna mow everyone down again. They may be low level hitters, but ANY level hitters that you give up 2 hits in 10 innings with 21 k's and don't give up a run..... you're mighty mighty in find health. Too bad Lizzie wont freakin come here anymore to post about it though.
May 9, 200619 yr comment_6568 Wood Stricvk out 12 in his latest rehad start. He might be back topitch in the bigs May 17th.
June 26, 200619 yr comment_7109 Glad you informed people since the post right above yours has the info of 12 K's. The cubs are going totally downhill. Ever sicne they stupidly got rid of their good announcers the team has gone down hill. Now the announcers are annoying, the pitchers are always hurt, and the hitters aren't doing much either.
July 9, 200619 yr comment_7281 Kerry Wood is likely done for the season after an MRI arthrogram Friday revealed a partial tear in his right rotator cuff. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...sp&c_id=mlb Chalk that up as another win for me.
July 9, 200619 yr comment_7282 yeah. In the same league I had Wood and Gagne both too. And I had Horacio and Morris sucking. So I am in deep trouble now. I picked Kenny Ray up for now.
