1. Everyone when you log in keep "remember me" checked. Let me know if it works now.

I think I have it working. In fact if I LOG OUT and then close the browser it even STILL logs me back in the next time I start my browser. So even accidentally logging out wont make you have to log in again.

2. I somehow got it to show the black square favicon for my site again SOMETIMES. You may need to delete the link in favorites then re-bookmark.

3. The problem where reputation mod caused everyone to get logged out has ALSO been fixed.

So all should be cool now. But if you have any problem, please tell me. Lynne's problem may be becuase she is using AOL. Not sure yet.

Actually now the problem is if you do NOT click "remember me" and you log out, it still does remember you.

It's really got to be one way or another apparently though and I think more would want it to remember by default than those who wouldnt.

ALSO, I am very close to ditching "display names". Does anyone care? 1. some mods show login names instead of display names and 2. I KNOW someone is going to get confused and forget which is their login name. Is there a point to keeping them? I can only see 1 point. They can be changed in your controls. Otherwise they are a hassle.

OK, here is how to solve the problem. I finally figured it out.

1. right click on "start" at the bottom left of your computer screen.

2. click on "explore" on the menu that comes up.

3. click on "cookies" on the left side of the screen.

4. go through that list. There should be TWO separate cookies. ONE will be for gottalk.com and ONE will be for www.gottalk.com

5. DELETE BOTH OF THOSE.

Problem solved. From then on when you log in, if you click "remember me" it will always remember you here until you log out. Then it won't. So as long as you never log out, you're remembered permanently.

However, if you share a computer and want to be sure that nobody gets on your name while you are somewhere else, then either a. log out or b. when you log in uncheck the "remember me".

It is working like a charm now. Please confirm it is working for all of you now.

EXTRA INSURANCE: I cofirmed this worked fine in IE and FF. However one time in FF I had to clear cache or it remembered me when it shouldnt have. Although I bet if i tried to then post it woulda logged me out. In IE I have it set to clear cache every time the browser closes. If you want to feel 100% safe that it will FORGET you when you are SHARING a comp, then do the above steps AND ALSO clear your cache or turn off the computer.
