Posted December 2, 200520 yr comment_4470 A place to mention all closers for people wanting to steal some saves late in drafts. Tom Gordon is apparently the first new closer and I personally would love to risk him. AT LEAST by late in a draft. he should be the new closer for the Phillies.
May 4, 200619 yr Author comment_6518 Otsuka closing for Texas. But I expect Cordero to get his job back soon. Either Putz or Soriano will be Seattle's closer right now. If Guardado gets doing well again, he would get it back. But I truly expect in this case he won't. I think Putz will be closer for quite a while then Soriano will become closer the final month or two and Guardado traded somewhere perhaps and maybe only be a setup man.

May 8, 200619 yr Author comment_6553 Dont you ever have useful info? Anyway... people in one of my leagues made fun of me picking up Cordero. And they said he would be in the minors by this week and not get his closer's role back like I said he would. Then after they said that he turned in a week where he was charged with 0 earned runs, gave up ONE base runner in 5 innings. That is the same as a starter geting a 1 start week and having an 0.4 whip or something close to that. If he keeps it up, obviously his job is back some time this week.
June 22, 200619 yr Author comment_7082 Otsuka--- still doing great as Texas closer. Cordero doing great also in a setup role. Putz--- doing great for seattle and Bonds compared him to Gagne. Sosa--- new braves clsoer.

July 13, 200619 yr comment_7364 Royals activated RHP Mike MacDougal from the 60-day disabled list. Manager Buddy Bell indicated last week that MacDougal could be put back into the closer's role right away, so fantasy leaguers will probably want to activate him now. That said, Ambiorix Burgos owners shouldn't be quick to drop the youngster. If MacDougal builds some trade value with his performance over the next couple of weeks, the Royals could move him and return Burgos to the closer's role.
July 14, 200619 yr Author comment_7381 Tom Gordon may get dealt and be a setup man somewhere. Fine by me since it will take a closer from another team in all fo my legaues. I wonder who philly would then use.
July 24, 200619 yr comment_7460 ESPN is reporting that the White Sox are close to getting Mike MacDougal from the Royals for pitching prospect Tyler Lumsden. Lumsden has a fair amount of potential, but the Royals should be able to do a little better if he's the only return. The White Sox would use MacDougal as a setup man. The Royals will likely put Ambiorix Burgos back into the closer's role.
