A lot of new stuff to soon be added. A downloads system once i decide which to use and get it to work. New registering members can choose a group when registering once I add it, and I may use this creatively to make it where registering members can only view the areas they choose and then get to view all once they get to a certain number of points. Or I could use it just to distinguish movie lovers from music lovers...something like that. Some other little mods and soon the reviews database should be done probably.

Thanks. I don't know how they will turn out, but hopefully well... I know this sounds like a broken record, but I really need more members. And active ones. Especially when the reviews mod is up. And the downloads mod (which I will probably have up later today). Because what good are those 2 without many members? Downloads would have nothing to download and review scores would be meaningless without many reviewing the same products.

Felt like using this screenname since I am tired of having so many posts from the same sn in the same topics. :)

I just did something that I am VERY glad of. I took a different method of doing the "number viewing" modification and I made it look exactly how I had the other one. I then deleted everything from the other one.

The result? It knocked off ELEVEN queries. A very big database speed up! It probably won't be too noticable to anyone right now, but it will put less strain on the database, thus making less chance of it messing up. And when this place becomes active it will be noticably faster than if it had been left at that number of queries.

A query is basically each time something is selected from the database.

sigh. Nothing ever turns out right. Just noticed this way doesn't even show when people are in subforums. I already deleted out the old coding too and plus would hate to add queries back. But this way is annoying. For forums which mainly are used for subforums, people will neevr know how many are in those.

Well, I installed the download system, but I don't know if there is a point to me linking to it yet. Becuase there are a few bugs, such as it not letting anyone but me post comments, even with settings correct... Also a few other bugs.

And what is very annoying is the stupid 5 minute CGI limit on this server (and most other shared servers). So even with a high speed connection you will most likely not get a file larger than 5-8 MB uploaded!

I would recommend zipping files then uploading. Although for some reason when I zipped a 56MB file, it only lowered it to 55.5MB (approximations). So either I did something wrong or else .wmv files cant be lowered much in file size???

If you want to upload a file larger than will work, I guess you will have to upload some blank file as a placeholder then tell me and i can FTP it into the DL system......

Keep in mind also that your downloads have to be approved before they show up. So it won't really take much longer to get it uploaded even if I have to do the file part for you.
