ok, the lottery is here finally. Hopefully I don't run into any bugs with it. I really plan to have the drawing be 2 specific days every week. But the way it is set up now I can only have it do it every x days. So for now I will end up having it set at every 4 days. Thus even if I were to forget to change it to 3 when applicable, the worst that would happen is you get 1 extra day to buy tickets.

I have all of these things set up experimentally, so settings could always change. As it is now, you can only buy up to 5 tickets at a time and you have to have 100 posts before being allowed to buy any, I believe.

I could add bank and some other things to make it more like real life where this system would more accurately show who is good at making money. However I doubt bank would get much action.

This is just meant to be a fun thing to do. Although at some point I will sell or auction off prizes, I am sure. So point totals may be more useful later on.

Hmm, maybe I should set it up where there isnt only a thing called points, but another called money and then each time you post, the points goes into both tables. Thus when you spend it, you dont spend your points, so your points will always remain the same and be more accurate to show what a productive poster you are. I should be able to do that...

I may have to make changes because it would be mighty hard to win the lottery with 33 #s. The default is 15 #s. With 33 it would be something like a 2 or 3 % chance of winning it probably.

Oh well we will figure it out. I hope I get advice on whether to just keep this 1 category called points or have it separate from this and call this dollars.............

Wow, in the first drawing Aaron already got 2 #s right while buying only 1 ticket.

I meant to make it where if you get 1 # right you get back your points, but I didnt do it, so I didnt profit from my ticket with 1 #. lol

lmao I like all these features so i use them myself, even though most admins probably wouldnt use them.

2 #s right is good for real. I have bought tons of powerball tickets and rarely get 2+ right and that one draws 6 #s which probably makes it the same chance, desopite using more drawable #s.

Anyway Ash, I ahve been taking it easy lately. lol Not many new mods to do and the ones I like are oens I cant decide where to use yet.

lol I just closed my eyes and randomly picked 5 that way. We shall see how it turns out.

I may change the minimum pot for jackpots to 10,000 instead of 5,000. I mean this is a crazy low chance of winning this way to begin with.

Or I could keep it at 5,000 and just make it where if it goes a month not being won, I make it easier, then easier still after another month? I dont know.

Or possibly the best way to do it is have it at 10,000 minimum when still this hard, then when I change it n a month, change the jackpot to lower, then lower next time, etc... that way if anyone DOES ever win it when it is int eh first month it would pay out mroe.

It already is progressive. Based on people buying tickets though. But the problem is I noticed when you won 100 points, it took that OUT of the jackpot. I should add those back in or something. In real life if they did that, it could be necessary because of money restraints, but why have itt aken out in this case??? Isn't like I have a limit to how many points i can give away. lol

I made it where beginners can play lottery now. Although didnt Ash buy a ticket one time? It easnt supposed to let him if he did. lol

whoa, I didnt get a ticket this time, but there is a particular set of 5 #s I have always picked in any lottery if I didnt get a quick pick. And I see 3 of the 5 were on there this time. :)

And speaking of numbers this is post #4444

EDIT: whoa another weird thing. At this same time I have 444 total posts on another forum.

(as an fyi, I have about as many posts on forums related to modding tTHIS forum in the past 4 months as I have here. Like I said in the past, I don't post here much at all and still amw ay ahead in post count).

I have greatly increased payouts on lottery. It is always possible I could change it yet again. I thought of making it where if you get 4 numbers correct you get 50% of the jackpot instead of a set amount. But for now it is as follows:

ticket cost: 50 points

1 correct number: nothing

2 correct numbers: 100 points

3 correct numbers: 1,000 points (was 500)

4 correct numbers: 10,000 points (was 2,500)

all numbers correct: Jackpot (minimum is now 100,000 instead of 10,000)

Remember there are 2 drawings per week. I also may make it where once it has a certain number of points in the jackpot that less numbers are drawn. Although it is kind of bad to have a jackpot purposely won before it builds to however far it can go, since it is fun to see how high it can get. I think I would raise the prizes even more if the site gets active soon.
