February 19, 200620 yr Author comment_5478 Texas was blown out to almost assure Memphis of a #1 seed as long as we keep winning and even if we lose another game against UAB, UTEP, or Houston. Texas has been destroyed 3 times this season and they definitely cant give a team like that a #1 seed!
February 20, 200620 yr Author comment_5480 Nope. We may be #4 on both polls, maybe #3, maybe #2. Who knows. But Texas losing helped us immensely in what matters most, #1 seeds.
February 20, 200620 yr comment_5482 Oh. I thought since this is the top 25 polls topic, thats what u were taking about.
February 20, 200620 yr Author comment_5486 AP POLL 1. Duke 2. Villanova 3. UCONN 4. Memphis COACH'S POLL 1. Duke 2. Villanova 3. Memphis 4. UCONN As I expected, the polls were split. But I had no idea UCONN would drop 3 palces. I figured Villanova would be the team we split with, thus being second and fourth. We gained 2 more first place votes in the coach's poll also. If I was a 'Nova fan I would have thought this is fair. I admit the truth., I would have. But it still is very unfair to Memphis to win 2 games by 39 and 40 and move down. Sure Villanova beat a top team, but we played tough against and beat tough teams too, it justw asn't this past week! I think we should be 2 on both polls, then Villanova third and UCONN fourth on both.
February 21, 200620 yr Author comment_5497 btw, for the first time all year Memphis has a first place vote in the AP poll also.
February 22, 200620 yr Author comment_5502 UCONN blew a 19 point second half lead and hung on to win in OT against a bad team by only 1 point.
February 22, 200620 yr comment_5508 Notre Dame isnt a bad team. They hit a bad streak where they lost 5 in a row and lost those 5 by a total of 11 pts. Lost by 2pts to Villanova. By 1 pt to WV and 1 pt to Uconn 3 pts to Pitt and to top it off they play in the toughest confrence in all of the land. Not a great team but by no means a bad team.
February 22, 200620 yr Author comment_5511 As bad as some teams people claim are the ones who play us. For instance tonight UTEP is playing us and they have a lot better record. No matter how much ND lost games by, having a record as bad as theirs shows they are a bad team this eyar for now. They could fix that only by going far in the tourney really, but they wont MAKE the tourney.
February 26, 200620 yr Author comment_5540 I think I want UCONN to beat Villanova because then we MAY be #2 on one poll. Either way we PROBABLY wont be lower than 3 on either. And btw, UAB may finally be ranked on coachs' poll Monday and we play them on the road Thursday.
February 26, 200620 yr Author comment_5543 Well UCONN indeed won and beat the spread. Unfortunately like most things here, nobody used the betting thingy though. lol I shoulda bet myself. I would have won. I am probably the only admin who likes the points mods so much that he uses them all a ton and gets points himself. lol
February 27, 200620 yr Author comment_5551 Voters must smoke crack when they do these polls. Florida has been terrible and they didn't move down enough considering they have lost 3 straight games! Tennessee lost for the SECOND straight week and yet both weeks COMBINED they only moved down 1 place, I believe. Or 2. UAB was going to be ranked this week when we play them, but instead they moved them DOWN from 27 to 29 when they won their games last week! Also on the coach's poll now we have the SECOND highest amount of first place votes, yet we are in third place! So the first place votes arent even what put UCONN back ahead, apparently some morons are voting us lower than 3 or 4 to keep us behind them. We are BARELY below UCONN now.
March 4, 200620 yr Author comment_5642 Wow, now #8 Pittsburgh lost to an unranked team. #1 Duke, #3 Memphis, #7 Texas, and #11 Tennessee all have lost to unranked teams this week and it is possible #1 UCONN will tomorrow. if they do, AI will be annoyed because we woulda moved to #1 had we not lost if #1 UCONN loses.
March 4, 200620 yr Author comment_5659 Luckily UCONN barely won by 4 points against Louisville. If they had lsot, I would have been mad because Memphis would have gone to #1 had they not lsot if UCONN lost. At least this way I can say Memphis wouldn't have gone to #1 most likely. Probably would have been UCONN still #1 and Memphis #2. Now if St. John's beats Rutgers tomorrow, then there is a 4 way tie for the FINAL spot in the Big East Tournament. So I don't know how their tie breakers go, but it may be possible that Louisville doesn;'t get to be in the conference tournament.
March 9, 200619 yr Author comment_5824 Louisville was down 37-9, wasn't even trying at all, and came back to only lose by 5 as they kept Pittsburgh froms coring the entire final 13 and 1/2 minutes of the game, other than free throws!
March 10, 200619 yr Author comment_5852 #1 UCONN lsoes their first agme of their tournament. #6 George Washington loses their first game of their conference tournament. #5 Memphis gave up 17 straight points in the second half and won by 19.
March 11, 200619 yr Author comment_5905 The ONLY teams with a shot at 30 wins before the ncaa tournament starts are Memphis and Duke. Duke must win 2 more and Memphis must win tomorrow. If Duke lsoes and we are the ONLY 30 win team going into the tourney it is going to be a huge huge HUGE slap to the face if we are not given a #1 seed! ESPECIALLY sicne the team some think may take it from us was just SANCTIONED today and has to take down their final 4 banner and have 3 years of NCAA tourney wins wiped from their record!
