I have been working on a points system for the form. I currently have a lot of it in place, but have not set up a way for anyone to actually get the points yet. I have tested things out and once you have the points the things you can use it on indeed work fine.

I am not sure what all points can be used on yet. I have set up arcade and clubs to both require points so far. So you can NOT use these right now since you all have 0 points. I gave myself points to test them.

Oce I have this in place you members can sell things too. I doubt you would want to sell actual items for points, but for example you could charge points when you make someone a blend or you could make other cool things and charge the points if you want. NOW WHAT YOU COULD DO is sale or auction something (yes auctions will be here) with points but make CLEAR IN THE description that you must also pay cash for a certain # of points so you will actually have them PAY you for a real item if you want to sell something for money!

I may at some point give away prizes to people with the most points at the end of months or something. I also could sell email addresses for points or I can auction off actual items or sell things for mere points and not money.

Then points, as I said, can be used for arcade, clubs, and extra board features. Or just get a lot of points to say you are the best at getting points.

Some forums will give you MORE points for posting than others and SOME forums will even take away points if you post in them, where it will be like you paying points to be allowed to post in certain places.

for arcade, you will win extra points back if you become the new champion of a game! It is currently set where you get triple your points back. I can make some games give more or less. This is why arcade is not playable right now. I am trying to finalize what everything will be wroth and how much it will cost.

PLEASE BEAR WITH ME if you seem to not be getting much for points right off. I am trying to be sure what is a fair amount of points for different things.

I will FINISH this later today, assuming I dont run into errors while coding the new system. I also want to think of a name other than points, which will be a unique name for the points/money.

Since Aaron is the only one using arcade, this really only affects him right now. I hope oyu guys decide to try more of these features some time. I am also about to add ANOTHER feature and then that will be close to the end unless really great mods turn up.

ALSO THE NEXT THINGS to be added which will relate to the points system are: a LOTTERY, a RAFFLE, and a SLOT MACHINE... all to gamble for more points. Veyr very fun.

edit: I worked my ass off on this so I hope I get it to th point where someone appreciates it eventually. It was hours of editing then an SQL error happened after I would post replies. But then I noticed it gave me points and no error for making a new topic. Thus I realized which file had the error and fixed it. It took me a while to narrow it down though.

I also changed the order of things under your avatars, bolded some things, and made the points totals big and red. I like this order better. It made no sense having group first, post count second, etc!

As for this points mod, I have not finished setting it how I want. So you will get less out of this than when I finish it. As is now, making a post only lets you play 1 game in arcade. THIS IS BECAUSE I havent figured out how many points to give and charge for things yet.

I know one thing though. Once I set it all up, you will get more points for posting a LEGIT review than ANYthing else on this forum. And some forums will SUBTRACT points from you. Anything Goes is one that most likely will. As for now all forum areas are worth the same.

Later today I will alter # of points you get per forum AND I will install a store mod. Lottery (looks VERY fun) and raffle have NOT been released to the public. So those will have to come whenever they are released.

ALSO: I will add points to everyone soon since you all have posted for so long. And one day per month (random) I will just add points to anyone who posted that day. Not sure how many yet. Similar to something gamefaqs has, called karma boost in a way I suppose.

Anyway I just looked at the store mod and it seems much much simpler and wont take over an hour, I am guessing.

Thanks, I am glad someone else is posting. Hopefully people just try to post even when it is slow because I am trying to get more people where it will stay active.

I just keep trying to get it to where I think people may think things are fun. I personally think anything with points is fun. lol Now the main thing is can i find good enough stuff to use the points on where people will want them for reasons other than just being the top points person here.

I am very happy I just got a small modification done myself. I tried everything to show points totals in the profiles. I found out where to create the rows in a template bit and simply copied how another row was done which was the right width for this. However, everything I tried failed! It would not put a number there. I looked at how certain things were done in mods and basically figured out that i could go into a file and define something and then basically put in the profile bit to show it.

So yeah.... for me this is a big deal. Apparently I didnt mess anything up. It keeps showing the correct number.

I may cut all of everyone's points in half and cut what you get for posts in half. not sure yet. If I do, it does NOTHING to hurt anyone. Just would be using a different system where people dont have crazy amounts of points. It looks weird with me having almost 18,000 points already.

I have now made it where when someone posts in YOUR topic, you receive points. Currently I have it at 10 everywhere except this forum area where I wont be getting points from these forum-related topics. I am trying to get as many points as I can like everyone else though. lol But I still am not so sure I should get them for this part of the forum.

Anyway I made it also where the topic creator does NOT get extra points for replying in his/her own topic. You get the same points you would normally get to reply, but not these bonus points. Otherwise people would just post in their own topics to get double points.

I figured out how to code this myself, by looking at some example coding in a couple mods. I then had to ask compguy how to word something where if its your own topic you dont get a bonus though.
