ok, I named this clubs because the original name was "member teams" which makes it sound like it it moderation teams or something. If anyone has a better name for it, I can change it again by editing a file I have.

This is a link near the top of the forum. People don't seem to pay attention to those much, but a lot of cool stuff is up there.

Onc you have permission, you can start a group/club by following that link. You are the leader and also select a co-leader when setting it up. Then people can join it and you (and whoever you give permission to) can approve or "dismiss" people when they try to join.

You can post news there, have a logo for your group, etc. Also, you can CREATE A FORUM area. So you have your own forum and YOU select who can be a mod there, or simply be the only mod yourself. You create a password for your forum where only members of your club (and admins) can go there. If someone gives out the pw, you can simply change it and try to find out who did it. Of course if you want, you can let anyone in.

I am thinking it might not be too smart to let just anyone make them, so I may either just let people make them if they win contests or I may base it on post totals. Anything is possible though, but for now I only have myself with permission to create them.

The main problem I can see with this feature is people may just hang around their own forum area and make the rest of the site even MORE inactive (almost impossible to do... *sigh*).

All along I wanted to do something where members can make their own forums/clubs though.

Let me know if you have any ideas as far as calling this something else, how I should decide who can make them, etc...

If I keep it called clubs, I can try to edit all of the times it says "teams" and make them say "clubs" by editing certain files. I noticed where all of that is coded in files.

These are actually subforums all in one forum area I allow them to be in.

Whenever I figure out what to do with this (which groups to allow) and people actually come here and post, it will go along ncie with the chat probably. You can do private chats in the chat so a club could set some time for a chat if they want and then password protect it. It could evolve into something, but people currently here don't get interesyted in things really.

I felt I needed to start a new topic on this after going through everything modifying this modification.

This is a very good, in-depth component for the forum. Although there are a few little issues I have not finished dealing with, this is basically ready for anyone who wants to use it and has 5,000+ points. (note: the cost could always change, just depending on how I see fit later on. I know it seems like a lot, but I dont want just everyone making them. Only a few are needed really).

This is a good way to have an area to discuss things which is not already there or isn't as likely to be wanted by many people. Although I will always consider adding forum areas. This is also a way for you to have some mod powers.

I will now explain the facts:

1. It costs 5,000 points to create a club. HOWEVER, in order to give incentive for a member to make a good/popular club, currently the club leader will receive 500 points back for each member who joins. So simply having 10 members interested in it enough to pay 500 points would give the leader his or her points back. Currently all point transfers work properly EXCEPT 500 points is not taken from the member joining. It is given to the leader, but not taken from the member yet. I will just take the 500 away from people later if someone joins one before I have fixed it.

2. You must select a co-leader. If you don't have one, you could always put QUOTE=Jason or jason for the co-leader. I will already be able to access your clubs and club forums anyway since I am admin. I don't believe moderators will automatically gain access to them though.

3. You give everyone permissions on what they can do. Such as changing club name, changing forum name, etc.

4. You can create a club forum on your own, automatically be mod at it, and select other members to be mods. You select a password forthe forum where people not in your club can't get in.

5. If too many clubs are listed on the same page, I can always move them and your links will still go to the forum.

6. You can make ranks and logos for your club, as well as post articles in its news area.

7. By default you will be getting normal amount of points for posting, just as in any forum I create. The only setting I see which you may need me to alter is topic rating. It is off by default.

8. Only the main leader can approve/dismiss other members. (Yes, members joining must be approved by the leader. At some point I will code it to give back the person's 500 points if a leader dismisses them after a certain amount of time for a reason other than huge rules violations).

9. If there is ANY chance your content may offend someone, you BETTER put it in the club description and forum description if you don't want to be in trouble! And even after that, some things would be against rules still obviously.

10. This would be a good excuse to use chat also. You could have a chat room you create and have a "club chat".

11. If you see team, teams, member teams, etc... that is because the original name for this was not clubs. It was member teams. I just changed it to fit my needs more.

I think that is about it. This is really a nice mod, in my opinion. And thenext large component here is being worked on by the same guy who made this mod. It is coming along nicely it seems.

In the future I may try to make some profile type of page to show everyone's clubs or maybe show it in the profile currently used....

Just think before making a club since it does cost a lot. Should I get rid of that points leader table where people will be more likely to spend their points, or should it still be left there as an incentive to those who do NOT wish to use their points to buy things?

Many more things will be done soon to give people with points something in return for them, hopefully.

It's 5,000 points. I had added to the file for it for a new feature where when someone joins it, you get 500 points each, so you would only need to get 10 people in it to end up getting your points back and then from then on you would be gaining. But at this point obviously there aren't many people here.

Other than mods/admins, you have control over anyne reading it. Or it may only be admins you dont have control over. I cant remember. You set a password for it and only people who you approved to join can see it.

But the way it is currently set up, you also have to select someone as the "co-leader". So it is kind of a mess when the site isn't active. I think it could be pretty cool if a lot of people were here and making clubs.

Well you click on clubs at the top of the page then the "create a team" link, since all the places where I changed the word team to say club got reverted when I upgraded the forum to 2.2. It's just all automated through forms. It doesn't even warn you it is taking your points, I don't believe. lol

The forum it makes is just another forum on this site (immediately set up) and it is password-protected to enter it. I have it set up to make all of the forums in the clubs forum already here. I think they become subforums of the clubs forum (under the fun forum).

The only problem I see with it is if some loophole is somewhere which would allow someone who is allowed to be a mod in their club could trick their way into being a mod somewhere else on the site or taking over my account and ruining the board. If I ever find out there is some security risk, I would just refund people points and get rid of it until it is fixed.

Since you have to use a coleader, you could use someone who just doesn't show up or use my jason username or something. In the next version it probably will not require therebeing a "coleader".

Until this place somehow gets active it will just be you in it though. lol Hopefully it is all set properly to take the points away and give them back, etc etc. Most sites do not charge points, but I believe I am the ONLY site that then gives points back to the leader when someone joins. As long as someone doesnt abuse it by making new names to join it to try to get points, everything is cool. If someone does that I will just ban the person.

edit: Just noticed that there is a bug for 2.2 where it won't let me set download permissions for the forums that clubs creates either. So I will ahve to alter that manually for each club for now after they are created.

NOTE: Now clubs are done with permissions to view forums rather than passwords. So only club members, moderators, admins, and "big shots" can view clubs. Big Shots is the group here for people with 10,000 posts. So assuming anyone ever even posts here again and gets to 10,000 they can basically spy on clubs. lol I think I may make it where they can just read and view and download, thus they still would have to join to actually post in them.
