I set this up for a new host and their server was being so speedy and now I found out their stupid DB is too old and I couldnt even transfer our posts. So I have to stay with this hosting paying TRIPLE per month for what wouldhave been better with the other.

If I happen to change servers soon, the site wont be down long, btw.

So if u change we all lose our post counts or can u reset them?

I THINK if I change to THAT one we would lose them. If that is true, there is now ay i am changing. It took long enough to get near 3,000 posts here.

Oh man it was so freakin fast too. My admin control panel was immediately loading, the pages were immediately loading, and at 1/3 the price of ehre. WHy they are dumb and dont upgrade their database I dont know.

Now having yet more problems trying to change.

I forgot Invision would move the database for me. I am going to ask them to do it and ask them to put the board offline when they do where people cant post and add to the tables while I dont have the nameservers changed.

SO BASICALLY dont be surprised if nothing is here for a while. At first it will be here, but a message will be here. Then it may be gone completely for hours,depending. This should be the last time this has to happen

If you can read this, we are on a new server.

The name chage hasnt even got to me still, but Aaron, Jaime, Cody and other sit apparently has because they are posting and it is showing up on the true forum which I am only accessing via IP address. For those who dont know the IP address (all of you probably) if it had not made it to where you lvie, then you would be seeing an OFFLINE board on yahoo's server.

Hopefully it works for me soon. lol But I can post here, so I guess it doesnt matter. I love this hosting so far. The server is faster so far and many more options and unlimited email addresses.

If someone tells you they still see the old forum where it is OFFLINE still for them, unlike us... they can do the following to update it faster:

go to start (in windows) then run then type cmd then when the black box pops up, type ipconfig -flushdns

Then the TRUE forum will show for them.

This is ridiculous how slow this site is soemtimes lately. I may have to look for yet ANOTHER host. This is annoying.

Server seems fast again. I keep telling them when it slows, so hopefully it will be better.

Switching to yet a new server. So assuming nothing seems wrong with the new one, some time today I will close the forum on this server and it wont show up again until whenever the domain name makes its way to wehre you live.

You may need to do what i told you to do last time: (info from post 3 posts above this post).

Umm well I have switched servers. I am posting at another address still though because it hasn't switched over officially.

Once you see this:

1. The site is on the new server for you.

2. Right click on "start", then click "explore", then click "cookies", delete all cookies for this site (one will say @gottalk.com, one may say @www.gottalk.com, and one may say @esc68.midphase.com). If you do not delete these, it may be possible for things to interfere since the cookies were made on the other server. It may NOT do anything, but it could, so to be safe i would delete them.

3. Then log back in and everything should be fine. If you click remember me, it will work. If not, it will work to not remember you also.

4. Let me know if you see any problems. It is possible some folders may not have the correct permissions, thus you may have some problem uploading files, for example.

5 Click on "controls" and then "board settings" and change fast reply back to yes if it changed to no.

6. Me and chels' blogs arent working right now.

7. I installed a new mod.

So far everything working great, upload worked in gallery, etc... So just let me know once you see some setting messed up and not working please. Only problems I see are 1. in blogs the dynamic headers cant work on this server at all. and 2. the blogs for me and chels arent working.

I switched servers and many things are currently not working. Mainly game type things. I won't be back on here for a while today, so if they move me again, it is POSSIBLE you will lose a few posts if you happen to be posting when they move the database again. Or it may not be moved at all if they can install the proper things to make these mods work. The problem is this server useds PHP 5.

Anyway so sorry for the inconvenience if a couple posts get lost. I DOUBT they will though unless someone is really unlucky and posting at the wrong time.

This is a mess really. Almost none of the points mods work Supposedly I will be moved yet again.

Hopefully this will be taken care of today. Chances are people won't lose posts anyway, but it is always possible someone may post in the middle of them moving. Thus the posts wouldnt be transferred.

The site is now on another new server. All games should now work properly. Everything seems fine.

I think it may be slow when you go to the site for the first time on a day, but then it should be speedy because I have it where it caches headers. So I think that means the logo doesnt have to load each time you switch pages.

That was already set that way though.

But anyway everything seems fine.

Now it would be really nice if a lot of active people were here posting. We need some discussions started. As it is someone makes a thread and then nobody even posts in it. Hopefully some of you can find some new people.

NOTE: Any time the site seems slow or if it is totally down, keep in mind it should be up again soon. It has been down once each of the past couple weeks. But only less than an hour 1 day and about 2 hours the other.

Just a note: even though people keep not posting, I am still going tot rouble behind the scenes on stuff. The host keeps suspending accounts when they cause this site to get slow from them using too many connections. lol

I am going to add some more things later... For one thing I finally got the site accepted into a cool search engine site that only searches forums. So more chance of people finding this site. And I just think it is set up brilliantly. Hopefully I would gain mroe emmbers than may be lost from here seeing new sites to go to.

We are on another new server. Another topic was for the last one for some reason. This topic is where i meant to just keep updating about servers.

At this point the only problem is I need them to install a file for the hi-lo game to work.

ok they finally fixed the hi-lo game.

We have been moved to a new server. The old one had a problem with a card in the computer this site is on, so they moved me to this one. Hopefully you all see it currently because it takes a while to propogate.

Remember if you ever see an old edition of the site, do the flush command described earlier in this topic. For future use, maybe save it somewhere where you remember that is how you make sure you have the newest version of sites when you go to them.
