I have released and opened up version 5.0.0 of the Review System on this site. Please let me know if you find any bugs. This was a large project which took nearly half a year so there is obviously a good chance that some enw bugs will be present in the system.

Some of the changes between the last version and this one:

1. Updated to work with IPB 3.0. This is what took most of the time. It had to be totally restructured and the skinning is totally different.

2. Skinning changes. The category listing on the review index page is now broken up into columns rather than one per row. The pages for reviews themselves are changed. Other changes here and there throughout the system.

3. Optimization. I totally overhauled the entire system to make it run more smoothly. There is less memory being used to store data, better indexing, and an entirely new structure. One change is that each category has a "trail" stored in the database so it saves having to do some extra semi-complicated queries in soem functions.

4. Alphabetized links. Under the search area on the review index page there is a row of lettes. Cick one to find all products whose names begin with that selected letter.

5. Search Caching. When going through pages of search results you won't have to have flood control timeouts because your search is cached.

6. Review pagination. You can divide your review into pages by using a special tag which is only in the editor in the review system. You can alternatively type in another replacement tot rigger a new page also, but I don't remember offhand what it was. So just simply click the insert special item list and select the review option. Also now the ratings are on a diffeent page also. And there is a "more information" link to expand the top of the table to show more details also.

7. MANY bug fixes.

8. Icons which can be clicked in the category listing area to add the products to your various lists. In the past you had to be on the actual product page to do that.

I'm sure I forgot quite a few changes, but like I said... getting it to work on IPB 3.0 was what took so long.

KNOWN ISSUES:

1. The quick editors for commenting do not work. There is a javascript error.

2. Many areas still need to be re-skinned to satisfy me.

3. If you don't have an avatar your review profile shows no default one.

4. A asetting in the ACP for how many columns to show categories in is not honored in some cases.

On this particular site I also added some enw categories, but don't add reviews to them yet. Actually I don't think you "can" add anything to them yet.

I hope we get the system used a lot soon. Thanks.

I fixed a bug where the dropdown to rate a review had broken images.

Also now everywhere in the review system which did have PM links now uses quick PM! So the cool quick PM popup comes up and you simply fill it out, send it, and then you're never leaving the page.

Places where this is used are: on other people's profiles in the review system, your friends page in the reviwews system, the lists of people with a particular item on their wish list, in their collection, or on their favorites list.

Put mini photos and user cards in a couple places and fixed some skin bugs.

Since I don't have a bug tracker on here right now, I am reminding myself here that I just noticed when you sort products by a detailed rating it suddenly makes the averages say no rating.

In root comparison it works properly so for some reason I did something wrong in one function and not another. I am guessing somehow I forgot to even select the rating.

Some counts were messed up in a couple areas under certain circumstances. It actually took a couple hours to fix it because I had to totally redo the queries and then add anorther AND complicate it even more. Now it seems to be ficed.

However if you search the member page it returns only the first 20 results with no pagination. Will fix that later.
