Posted April 27, 200916 yr comment_11412 The forum software is expected to be at the release candidate stage within a couple weeks. Since this site is so inactive anyway, I am probably going to upgrade the site live to the new version at that time, despite the fact that release candidates are not officially supported. I don't think many people have been updating their modifications so arcade, casino, etc... are going to disappear at that point until they are updated for the new forum software. Modifications maintained by me (review system and sports betting system) should be ready to roll by then though. I am still trying to optimize them the best I can and then test them, but if I "had to" I could use them both even today. Except in the review system I ened more info to get the fast reply boxes set up properly.
May 3, 200916 yr Author comment_11445 Just reminding about this. I may very well update the site within the enxt week (if it's released as RC 1 by then) and so then arcade and casino will be gone and possibly gallery and blogs will be gone temporarily.
May 5, 200916 yr Author comment_11449 I just spent literally all night redoing just the FORMS for adding matchups and bracket contests. I didn't even finish the NFL style bracket form. This is so not going to be ideal when I sue it later this week or whenever IPB 3 is out. In the past I typed in all of the 65 teams for a bracket in 65 different input boxes. Now I changed it where teams are in a teams table in the DB so there are 65 DROPDOWNS. You can obviously imagine how odd it looks having 2 columns with each having 32 or 33 dropdowns lined up vertically! Then each of those will have ALL possible teams in it. I tested it with 1,000 dummy choices for each dropdown to see how horrible it would be to load it if a site were to have 1,000 teams in their database. Well it took about 6 seconds to load. But seeind that a bracket contest would rarely be used I would say even 6 seconds isn't that horrible anyway. What I'll do is make it where some of these forms are on different pages where when someone is using a more simple form it won't have to load this monster form. So anyway now tomorrow I will finish that skinning and the changes in how things are added to the DB and then I have to go through the entire main file changing things to access teams from the new table rather than the old way I had this set up. This is not ideal at all, but at least it will eventually work and be a little better organized than the past, along with the capability of having photos for all teams, any payout ratio for any team in a matchup, etc... Hopefully this wasn't a big waste of time. The program WORKS on this site already, so changing the whole thing is kind of risky.
May 7, 200916 yr Author comment_11452 This is fun talking to myself. lalala. ok I worked hard for a third straight day and am getting close to finishing my betting and review systems. There is a very good chance that IPB 3 will be released today. If it is then I am HOPING to have these two apps completed by then where I can add them. So I may wait a few hours after its release where I can be sure it's stable and that my apps are finished or I may upload IPB 3 and then upload my apps within a day afterwards. Actually I think I am done with all of the "main" things in both apps anyway. Everything left is simply displaying things properly, bug fixes, and updating this site's live database to work with the new versions. So we are nearing the last day of arcade and casino being here for a while. If I have to I will wait before doing some more changes on these two systems and I will do them after installing them.
May 12, 200916 yr Author comment_11458 Looks to me like this will be released today or tomorrow. It's down to only 3 skin bugs and 3 other bugs. I have to finish some stuff for the sports betting system later today and then when i do update this site, I will probably have a few things left to do on it once upgraded. I also have to change a LOT of thigns in the database because I changed tons with my new version of sports and review software. So it will take me an hour or two to even get the site "ready" for upgrading later on when it's ready. So hopefully thigns will be ready on their end and my end within the next 24 hours or so.
May 14, 200916 yr Author comment_11463 RC1 was just released so today (hopefully this morning) the site will be updated and a lot of things will be gone for a while until they are updated.
