November 11, 200817 yr Author comment_10804 Evan Longoria was the unanimous American League selection of the 28 voting members of the Baseball Writers Association of America, for the 27 homers and 85 RBIs that followed his delayed addition to the Rays' lineup on April 12. Longoria, also the only player named on all 28 ballots, and White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez, who drew 18 second-place votes and 59 total points, reigned over a deep influx of first-year players.
November 11, 200817 yr comment_10806 I was going to predict he would win, but I thought it would be far from unanimous. He definitely deserved it to be unanimous, but many reporters were acting like him missing time with his broken hand meant someone else should win it.
November 11, 200817 yr Author comment_10808 Tim Lincecum received 23 of 32 first-place votes to win NL Cy Young honors on Tuesday.
November 12, 200817 yr comment_10810 Who was it that told you he would win it and you said no? Oh yeah, me. He should not have got it, in my opinion though.
November 12, 200817 yr Author comment_10811 Yes. You were the only one who told me Tim Lincecum would win. Cliff Lee will be the AL cy young winner.
November 12, 200817 yr comment_10812 And you said no. I forget who you said would win. Also I think you told me Lee would not win. I said all year he would win for the AL.
November 13, 200817 yr comment_10816 Oh yeah, Webb. That's who you said would win and I said no he wouldn't. I don't think Linecum should have won though.
November 13, 200817 yr comment_10820 Lee won the AL CY like I said all season wehn cbs dumbly kept blocking me from trading him in an arod deal as if he was garbage.
November 14, 200817 yr Author comment_10823 Cliff Lee was named the AL's Cy Young Award winner on Thursday after receiving 24 of the 28 first-place votes. Lee was second on the other four ballots and finished with 132 points. Roy Halladay received the remaining first-place votes and finished second, though three writers foolishly left him off their ballots. He had 71 points. Francisco Rodriguez finished third with 32 points, and Daisuke Matsuzaka came in fourth with 10 points. There was an argument for Halladay over Lee as the AL's best pitcher, but one would have had to weigh his significantly more difficult schedule in order to make it. In this case, there was nothing wrong with the obvious choice.
November 15, 200817 yr Author comment_10838 I am predicting Howard, Pujols and Delgado, in that order for NL MVP.
November 18, 200817 yr comment_10854 I predict pujols winning it. Howard's average sucked. I'm just too good. For AL MVP I think I'll predict Quentin first and arod second. Thus far I ahven't been wrong on any prediction. I don't think I predicted for the NL ROY though. Have the managers been picked? If not, I preodct the TB manager and probably the phillies manager. edit: ok managers were already announced. I got one of those wrong. And Delgado didn't even come remotely close to third place. Even Manny Ramirez, who played only half the season in the NL, finished ahead of him.
November 18, 200817 yr Author comment_10863 Dustin Pedroia received 16 of the 28 first-place votes to top Justin Morneau and win AL MVP honors. Pedroia may not have been the best choice for the award, but he clearly was the superior option among the guys who actually had a chance of winning. Joe Mauer, the AL's most effective player, finished a distant fourth, receiving two first-place votes. Morneau received seven first-place votes, Kevin Youkilis two and Francisco Rodriguez one. By points, it went Pedroia (317), Morneau (257), Youkilis (201), Mauer (188), Carlos Quentin (160), K-Rod (143), Josh Hamilton (112), Alex Rodriguez (45), Carlos Pena (44) and Grady Sizemore (42). November 18, 200817 yr comment_10864 Just noting that Aaron is pasting those comments where people don't think he's telling his opinions. Anyway yeah I was way off on this one. I don't really thinkPedroia should have won. But I do recognize that there was no clear choice. Arod and Quentin missed time with injuries. Still the best overall stats were by Quentin and he got his team to the playoffs. The red sox would have most likely gone without Pedroia, but it's questionable.
