Ok Ladies and Germs its that time of year. The World Series has ended, awards are about to be given out and players are filing for free agency. Its Hot Stove Baseball time. Here's the thread to use for any deals that get done, rumors you might hear or even a nice chat about how it will impact the upcoming baseball season, real or fantasy.

I would imagine the big news of the off season is that the Padres are looking to deal off Jake Peavy. So far it looks like the Cubs and Braves are the front runners but one can never discount the desperate Yanks or the deep farm system of the Red Sox.

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals have picked up Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham from the Marlins for Emilio Bonifacio and a package of minor leaguers.

Two of the minor leaguers are right-hander P.J. Dean and infielder Jake Smolinski. Unless there's someone much better going to Florida that we don't know about yet, this could be a huge steal for the Nationals. We wouldn't trade either Olsen or Willingham for that trio, much less both. If the Marlins like Bonifacio that much, it could mean that Dan Uggla is on the way out. The Nats could pencil in Willingham at first base and then move him to the outfield if Nick Johnson is healthy.

CBSSports.com's Scott Miller believes the Padres will soon ask Jake Peavy to waive his no-trade clause to complete a deal to Atlanta.

Miller thinks the deal involves Yunel Escobar, Gorkys Hernandez, either Charlie Morton or Jo-Jo Reyes and one more pitcher, possibly Blaine Boyer or prospect Jeff Locke.

Cubs re-signed RHP Ryan Dempster to a four-year, $52 million contract.

The fourth year is actually a player option. Dempster gets a $4 million signing bonus, $8 million next year, $12.5 million in 2010 and $13.5 million in 2011. It will be his choice whether he returns for 2012 at $14 million. Dempster receives the massive deal even though he's had just two good seasons as a starter, those coming eight years apart. He was one of the NL's top pitchers last season, and his peripherals suggest that he can keep it up. Still, his previous record makes him difficult to trust.

According to ESPN.com, the White Sox will trade Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan to the Braves for Jo-Jo Reyes, Brent Lillibridge and a prospect.

Ken Rosenthal agrees that the deal has been agreed to, but he doesn't think Reyes is involved. On the other hand, he believes young slugger Tyler Flowers might be going to Chicago in the trade. It sounds like it will be a good deal for the Braves, though there's really no need for Logan to be involved. They already have seven relievers better than him.

Braves acquired RHP Javier Vazquez and LHP Boone Logan from the White Sox for catcher Tyler Flowers, infielder Brent Lillibridge, third baseman Jon Gilmore and LHP Santos Rodriguez.

After a couple of days to think about it, it's still looking like a nice trade for Braves. Flowers is the only player they're all that likely to miss, and with Brian McCann installed at catcher and a very good first base prospect in Freddie Freeman at about the same level as Flowers, they were definitely dealing from a strength there. Vazquez has thrown at least 198 innings in nine straight seasons, going over 215 in six of them. He's never reached his full potential, but he's pretty much the ideal No. 3 starter, at least in the regular season. The Braves will have him at $11.5 million for each of the next two seasons.
