Ok my opinion of the hour and a half i saw, was this one was pretty awesome. 2004 wasnt that great. this year was def. better

the set was so effing hot, with the water, and i liked all the presenters this year, they werent gay. 50 Cents performance was AWESOME!!! He did like all of my favorite songs by him:

Ashlee simpson doesnt have a bad voice, if your comparing her to jessica, their completely different people. I didnt like her first when she first came out, you need to get used to it. She also has Acid reflux disease, if she kept preforming during the time of SNL she could of hurt her vocal cords for a very very long time...and obviously i respect ashlee simpson because there is this whole thing against her on the internet with over 400,000 signatures to bring her down, and she has YET to let that bother her. I more or less respect her because she doesnt let anything bother her and STILL thrives for everything she wants to achieve

As for Ashlee, I have to disagree with a couple points. First lets get to SNL and her acid reflux excuse. She may very well have it but I dont buy that as an excuse. Our fearless leader also sufferes from this and ive heard him talk about how it can get so bad it almost immobilizes him. Dosent keep him off the computer but I believe he gets severe pain from it. The reason I bring him up is Jason is not filthy rich like her. There is a simple procdedure that can control it. It is called fundoplication surgery. I'm sure she has the finest doctors that can and have treated her for this. It also dosent excuse why she bounced around like an idiot when she realized it was the wrong song being piped in and then finally just walking off the stage leaving her band up there. A real professional would have sucked it up and stayed with them.

Second, there was no mention in your reply about the Orange Bowl where even Nick and Jessica felt embarressed for her and started throwing out excuse after excuse for her sounding so bad. Yes I watched newlyweds.

Lastly, She only famous for 2 reasons. 1, her sister being Jessica. W/o Jessica she has no career. 2nd is because of MTV. They made her and invested alot of money into her so they will not just let her go. She will only be hot as long as MTV lets her be. I would guess as soon as Jaimie Spears is ready they will start bombarding the youth with her music and nobody will remember Ashlee.

Bottom line is, She is not somebody that deserves to be looked up to. Lance Armstrong is somebody to look up to. Vitamin C is somebody to look up to. Even Missy Elliot is somebody to look up to because of where she came from and what she has become. Ashlee is not the first and definetly not the last perforner to be made fun of and continue to perform. So IMO thats not a reason to admire somebody.

One last thing and I'm sorry I just noticed she was on your sig pic so I'm sure u will be mad at me for pointing out these things but getting u mad is not the point I'm trying to do. I am just a firm believer that kids today find role models for the wrong reasons. I was plenty guilty of this when I was younger so I am only saying this as an older wiser person so maybe u will hear what I am saying and think about it the next time some new star is pushed on you.

Its MADE to be on MTV, its for TEENS. DMB and other artists are NOT mainstream music, yet they have an awesome career. MTV is just a base, its up to the ARTIST to do what they wanna do.

MTV is not the world but it IS where most kids get thier thoughts from. DMB has been around for a long time and do you know where they started? That's right MTV. I know this because thats where I used to see them. They were at the height of thier popularity back from about 93- 98(rough estimate). When Alternative was still a viable format of music. Nowadays, alternative is gone and rock is barely surviving on radio. DMB is now classified as a jam band. They do not fit onto what MTV puts out there. MTV is all Pop, Hip Hop and R&B. I have been to numerous DMB concerts. Some I barely remember for reasons I don't need to discuss now. ;o) The bottom line is DMB has a career because of MTV. They arent on now as much but back in the day they were on constant play.

Contrary to your belief most Artists dont start out with control of their Music. They do not gain control until they become hot and that is only IF they have the talent to back it up. Kurt Cobain, HATED the album Nevermind. It wasn't what he wanted to put out but the record company wanted a mainstream album to get thier name out there. What I'm saying here is Ashlee Simpson IMO will not have the career DMB has had and continues to have because of lack of talent. I do not believe she will ever put out any album that will compare with DMB or Nirvana and stand the test of time.. She puts out the music that will make the record companies and herself money.

Last thing. I am very glad to see your comments about the media. Its something I wouldnt expect to come out of a young person's mouth. I agree 100%. Not sure if u get the chance but you should pay attention to The Daily Show on Comedy Central. M-Th 11pm est. The only other advice I would say is to make sure u read as many newspapers as possible before forming an opinion on anything. Specifically the NY times.

oh yeah and about how like some artists are made to do some sort of music, Ashlee simpson wrote her own songs. she really did. i think pretty much the whole album was either written or co-written by her. Each of her songs had her own touch to it. Pieces of Me was written for Ryan and she wrote that spur of the moment to add to her album. if you watched her show, she had this huge box full of papers from her first album, and even said: Wow this is all stuff that helped me with the album...Oh look look this is where i wrote *insert song* or w/e

So yeah she DID write her own stuff, and it was what SHE wanted to put out. and then it just happened to be a hit w/ everyone
