Posted May 17, 200817 yr comment_9871 I'm honestly frustrated deciding on what aspects should be rated for each product. It's what's held me personally up from posting a lot of reviews. I don't want to write a lot of them then changes the categories all up and have to re-rate them. Basically the reason I have so many things to rate for a product is that I want products to be sortable by any characteristic. I have it where you also rate how well ti fits into each genre/category because then people can break things down even mroe and sort by only the funniest movies, for example. The problem comes in for several product types: 1. For video games I have difficulty and learning curve. Those are almost the same thing AND the problem comes in because you're rating how "good" a product is. So rating difficulty high is saying it does a GOOD job at having a good difficulty level. So where do you then rate HOW difficult it is??? 2. For video games depth and lasting appeal also are almost the same thing. I probably should ditch one of those. 3. For movies I can't simply move reviews from "in theaters" to "dvd" becuase really they need to have differing categories to rate on! For dvds you would want to rate extras. Maybe I will just have an extras rating for both, HOWEVER see then someone could rate extras as 1 for in theater, but when it's on dvd it would have a lot of extras, so if I move it to the dvd area it will seem like someone rated the dvd as 1 in extra features when really they rated the theater version as that! Maybe instead of "category breakdown" I should have that left table be "high or low" and the right table be "good or bad"??? Then I could put difficulty in the left table since it wouldn't be for only categories??? Or I could just name a category challening games??? See it's so confusing and I want to come to a decision and never have to mess with these again. It's very confusing and I don't want to have less things to rate on because theya re designed to show every aspect of the product numerically. *dies*
May 18, 200817 yr Author comment_9875 I think I will probably just change it where that one side isn't only a category breakdown, but rather ALL thigns that are rated high and low. Then the others will still be rated good or bad. So that should solve all of the tough part on figuring things out. I really want to totally rewrite the "write a review" process and then change how things look in some areas. Otherwise I will probably wait until IPB 3.0 comes out before I change other parts. By the way I forgot I made it where on product pages it tells the top tags. Cool idea by me if I do say so myself. lol
