Sports Betting 3.1.0 has been released.

Tournaments

1. Link to the system is now in the table on the main Sports page rather than in the link bar. Also you can get to it from the "My Page" link in the link bar.

2. On the Bracket Stats page for each bracket contest it now not only tells correct picks, but also out of how many total picks currently paid out.

3. Clicking on someone's username on that page now takes you to their bracket! It only shows once the deadline to make selections has ended.

4. A link to the member's forum profile is now on their bracket page to make it easier for you to find their forum profile.

5. Color coding. Now on your bracket page AND on others' bracket pages you can see which picks are correct (green) and which are incorrect (red strikethrough). It also is an easy way for you to see which games I have already paid out points for, as ones which I have not yet paid out are still in black. Remember to look also in the far left column at the top since the play in game winner is moved into that bracket and thus will be red or green.

6. Major Bug Fix: Dropdowns stopped showing up in the entry forms.

7. Major Bug Fix: Only one winner was being paid per game even when multiple members correctly picked the winner.

8. Major Bug Fix: On my payout form it was not switching over to the next round to show those games where I could pay them out.

9. Minor bug fixes also shown in the bug tracker.

Layout Changes

1. The link bar now has less links. It has a "My Page" link which leads to a page with links to your bet history, your contest history, and a link to the Brackets main page. The "Contests" and "Brackets" links have been removed and they are now categories in that table on the front page.

2. Other cosmetic changes here and there and language bit changes.[/size]

Bug Fixes

Bug fixes not only in the tournament system, but soem cosmetic bug fixes in payout functions and other areas of the sports betting system.

Future Plans

1. Fantasy sports content including a daily game to pick which of several players will have the best day.

2. Tips area for matchups. You would either pay points or maybe be in a certain user group to be able to read tips for matchups. I think this is a cool idea because I may, for example, point out a trend I notice with a team or maybe something someone else informed me of.

3. Skinning and bug fixing.

4. User Group Permissions.

5. Users submit matchups and if I approve them, memebrs can bet on theirs.

6. Sports Trivia Section.

7. User created Tournaments.

8. Tournament changes. (mainly minor)

This is so annoying. I keep having to pay attention when I pay a bet out where I can see if it pays properly. Well it still seemed like it gave Aaron 200 extra points. So I thought I just wrote down his prior point total improperly. Then I did the payout again and it paid him properly. SO I have no clue. It seems to work, but this is at least the third time this has happened and I don't think I could accidentally write down the wrong number on 3 different occasions. So if you have extra points then oh well, I guess. It's annoying that I can't be certain if it is paying properly though. That is the same point total I got (200) so I am wondering if somehow it added up mine and yours both and added them all to you. But if so, then I have no clue why it paid properly when I redid it.

It also had Aaron's total bets number 1 off of what it should be for some reason.

I've been changing things here and there and also fixing some bugs.

Trying to think of new things to add, but really not too much to add other than just modifying what is already done to make it better.

I wish I kenw a completely new thing to make for the site, but really I can't think of anything.

I made some nice changes as far as paying out and displaying for contests.

I still have the my stats page a lot of useless things as placeholders, so I won't change the version number until I actually put real stats there.

I also need to make things look better, I think.

Doing some fairly minor changes on the sports betting system. I don't need to close it down, although at times it may not work on skins other than the default one as I usually work on the main skin before transferring the changes to all skins.

I am mainly just better organizing, allowing sorting on the my bets page, and then I will do other changes over a few days probably, such as setting up a system where I can have multiple choices pay out more than 1:1. I really am hoping to simplify this system some as it is set up in... not the best of ways in some areas.

I am most likely going to sale this product, thus I am trying to get it better organized.

There are several other betting systems for this forum type, so I took too long to sell this. lol Although mine does have contests and brackets which thsose don't.

Anyway I will add football matchups if anyone will bet, but since Aaron hasn't been betting I am assuming nobody will bet at the moment.

Don't bother. The matchups are to added to sporatically for me to check back everyday and make bets. If I knew there were going to be matchups listed everyday, I would get into a rhythm and be here everyday to place bets. When the site is more active I'm sure it will be a more daily listing.

Some games can not be added on a daily basis. For instance, for baseball I wanted to add only the series themselves. Thus I had to wait until I knew who was in them and still have a good amount of time for people to bet on them.

I have added the ALCS and NLCS matchups now. So you have until just before game time to bet on those.

I will try to add matchups on a more constant basis. However, football is mainly what's left. So since those games do not occur every day. I will have to pretty much still add only weekly. So I would say check. All you have to do is notice the link in red at the top of any page when you get here to know there have been matchups added.

If I add games on Monday, you wouldn't have much time to bet on monday night football. So maybe I should add football games on Tuesday each week where you would have plenty time to bet on college games on Thursdays and Saturdays and pro games on Sundays and Mondays.

If the site were more active I would add every single game. But to do that with inactivity would get us both too many points even if we lose most bets.

The two baseball series matchups are for the ENTIRE series, by the way. Not just Game 1. For the World Series I may add each game separately as well as the entire series.

NFL is fine with me. I dont follow college football so I probobly wouldnt bet on those.

If the baseball playoffs are for the series, chenge my bet to LA instead of Philly. Id rather root for a Torre/Manny vs the Red Sox matchup.

ok, sorry I didn't claridy those very well. I should have made titles specific that they were for the series.

What sucks is I am not into NFL and you aren't into NCAA. So if I put up ncaa bets you don't feel comfortable making picks, but for NFL I feel like I will add ones that are too easy by me not knowing the NFL well enough. lol

I really need more people here then I would add a ton of matchups in all sports.

I am going to add a contest to pick which President will win each of the 50 states and hopefully find people to do that one.

I have mostly been working on the review system, but just as a safety measure I changed a line of coding where if someone puts commas when entering a bet amount they will be stripped out before entering it to the database.

Nobody has accidentally put the commas in the amount, but had they done it then it would have cut off the bet amount at the comma. In other words a bet of 1,000 would have ended up being a bet of 1 instead since the comma and everything else after it is cut off when it is intvaled before adding to the db.

So now it will work properly whether it's all numbers or the commas are also included.

I just bet a lot of points on all of those matchups so hopefully I lose some where I don't keep gainng points with nobody else trying. lol

I did a big bet of 100 on the USC game and picked arizona state just becayse it would be the first underdog game to be won and for me betting that measley 100 points if Arizona State DOES upset USC then I would win back 5,100 points. So I would receive my bet back and then a gain of 50 times my bet!

I got back in time to make bets for tonights game and mondays game but there is no link to make a bet. whats up wit that?

I thought you bet on all of them this morning. I thought it showed them all as having 1 bet placed before I even did them. But in the DB it says you didn't bet on them.

Either way the links are still there. I just logged in with my other name and checked and you can still bet on the monday night one.

Simply go to the proper category and click the bet link or whatever link leads to the matchup page.

Did you click the "4 new matchups" link? If you did that, the reason it went to no results is because your "4 new matchups" link was based on your LAST login and as soon as you clicked any page on the site at all that went away.

In other words, if you see a "new matchups" link, that link only works until your session expires. If you leave the site for a long time and come back it will not have new matchups on that page. You needed to click the regular betting link and go to the categories and find them there.

I could make it where they stay as new matchups until their closing time, but then the link won't go away until the closing time and so it would confuse you into thinking there are new ones later too.

By the way I finally got my picks wrong. I picked texas tech, tennessee, and Indianapolis thus far. So 1 out of 3 for me so far.

grrrrr. Its not you or the site its stupid firefox 3. for some reason it is having alot of problems loading buttons for me. Its not just here its on other sites as well.

Sigh. You still didn't bet on it after I told you it was still up for bet so I wasted time adding those. Also you never responded again in the review topic about the requested categories. I'm going to have to take a break from working on these because they aren't getting used and I have invested huge amounts of time on them. On the review system alone I spent probably right around 1,200 hours on it now and I have nothing to show for it other than it felt nice when I submitted 5 new reviews and no error or bug cropped up at all with any of them. Correctly added the categories, correctly distributed the points, etc...

i must have been on my laptop. didnt put chrome there. It still has quite a bit of bugs IMO.

You could have bet from your laptop though. I would have added games from this weekend, but when a site isn't active you have to know that at least one person is going to use something or it's pretty pointless adding more matchups. We really ened to find people to come here because features aren't fun with nobody using them. lol
