I've added an NCAA Tournament contest. You receive points for each correct pick as well as an extra 10,000 if you win the contest. The entry fee is 100 points.

At this time only one bracket per member is allowed.

If a lot of people would do the contest I would probably give away a prize, such as a gift card, but most contests are not being used much. lol I of course mainly created this as a fun thing for a forum community to do.

If you notice any bugs, please report them in the Bug Tracker by clicking the link near the top of any page.

The deadline is Tuesday afternoon. Why so soon? This contest includes the play in game, unlike contests on sites such as espn, cbs, etc...

In the future this will have more features. Also I have to create the payout function this week (hopefully) where I can have it paid out as the tournament goes along and have stat positions shown during as much of the contest as possible.

If I don't finish that in time to get stats showing from day 1, then I apologize. I have some other things to do the next few days.

To make your picks:

1. click "Betting" at the top of any page.

2. Click "Brackets" on the link bar inside the sports system.

3. Click on the name of the Tournament.

4. Click the link to go to the bracket form.

5. Go through the process of submitting your picks. As you submit each round's picks, it will take you to a new page of dropdowns for you to make the next round's picks.

Where is it? I dont see it listed under the betting tab. I am also not sure if I can get it done by tuesday afternoon. This is a short week for work because of the holiday so I will need to jame 5 days of buisness into 3. Can partial brackets be filled out and still recieve points?

If you REALLY have to do a partial one I can temporarily disable the time check and then I will just have to edit the missed game and put in the loser for you on that one where you would not be able to pick the winner after they win. Or you could purposely pick the loser where I don't have to.

But anyway on the link bar down there, there is a link that says "brackets".

I had a feeling it would be confusing how to get to it. Although that's why to read the news topics for the site because I told how to get to it in that.

I really hope at least 5 people do it. I've been going to sites trying to get people to.

I don't want to look in the DB and see who you picked, but just wondering if you did the whole bracket. I made it where if you leave and come back it has the picks you made still saved. So you could have done part of it, although you must do all picks on a round before it saves anything.

Actually looking in the DB wouldn't tell me obviously what you picked anyway becuase I have numbers corresponding to the teams in the DB.

I have my first double diamond baseball draft Tuesday night so I really only have tonight and wednesday to try to make this look better, easier to find the link, and make the payout function or else it will just have to not have them immediately.

Sucks I was unable to finish the paying out section yet becuase now in order to be sure it doesn't screw up people's points I will have to test it on a fake bracket contest before using that! lol

Looks like only me and you again and I tried on a lot of places to get people to come here and do it. It's pretty much free points because although I made an entry fee, you could be a chimp pressing random buttons and get back more than the entry fee. lol

I have in my mind how to do the payout function so maybe I can finish this all off tonight.

I just worked like CRAZY and did a stressful amount of coding this morning trying to finish this up.

I see in the DB you did finish, so that's good.

I should have told you to use another name to do another bracket and then me do another since nobody else is doing them! It really sucks because I spent a lot of hours on this in a short period of time and we don't have people here to use things. It was PAIN making some of this. I thought the payout function would take me an hour or two, but it took all night because of the enormity. And now when I add something to show the winning teams in a table, it's going to be hundreds of more lines of coding too!

I mean wow... 2 whole entries. Guess I should have gone to bed early that one night instead of going to a lot of sites advertising. lol

If someone joins and wants to enter by thursday morning, i will add them in and have them forfeit the play in game. But looks like nobody wants to help anyway. lol

At least it will be easy to see if it pays out properly when I only have to look at 2 people's point totals.

Anyway I greatly appreciate you filling out the brackets. You're the only one who ever helps me get use out of anything other than Pip did on 1 thing. I work very hard on these things. I am very stressed a lot of days from programming because I pay close attention to detail. That's why the number of bugs is low on my programs as compared with others'. I get it right before using it usually. Always some bugs, but less.

One positive about it being just us two is now I can test the payout function live instead of having to make a test bracket to test it first. With me only needing to pay attention to our two entries, I can easily see if a mistake happens and then find the bug if it occurs.

Basically all of the teams have a number corresponding to them in the database and so i just have to look at the numbers we pick for each pick where I know if we should both get paid or not then I look to see if it pays properly.

First test will be tonight since the play in game is over.

I opened this back and put tomorrow morning for the deadline becuase another person or two may do it.

It already paid out for the play in game, so that one won't pay to them. Thus it's not like they can gain anything by picking mount saint mary's.

I am kind of forcing this though. It would have been more fun if people already here do it, but still better if a couple more do it where you or I don't automatically win.

I changed some things around with the layout of the sports betting system and fixed some major bugs. For instance the bracket payout was NOT working. It was giving only 1 person points on correct ones even when more of us got it right. So I had to redo a section of the file and then I checked closely after all 17 payouts and it worked flawlessly everyt ime now.

(btw, CDP would be ahead of me, but since I let him in late, it didn't give him credit for that first pick. In case someone wonders why his correct number is 1 less than if you look at his bracket and add them up.)

On a yahoo bracket where $5 million is the prize for a perfect bracket, I got the first 11 right and then got the texas a&m one wrong. So now I can;'t geta perfect bracket! If I had known I would lose that one I would have rooted even HARDER for Duke to lose!

Through 25 games, me and CDP still tied and Aaron 60 back. The way I did the point structure makes it where nobody will be out of it any time soon most likely.

I need to now make a function to mark the brackets with the correct or incorrect picks where it is more clear to people which ones have already been paid out.

By the way each bracket contest I enter the round point totals for. So a future one could be worth differing amounts. I think I really should have made those later rounds worth a little less where people are rewarded as much for front end games. Although either way you still are going to have to predict well orer can't win regardless. But you could predict the final 4 properly and then miss a ton of the others and still win with this setup.

Mine all started going South. lol I only noticed 1 bracket on any site where I have more correct picks than on here and on here I am not doing so hot either.

By the way just to do the color coding for the brackets on here this morning it took me several hours and 600 lines of coding because I didn't really have a way to do a shortcut on it such as a foreach clause because it's so complicated how I have it set up. I seriously wanted to throw up from copying and pasting the same stuff so often when making the bracket game. Over and over and over copying and pasting and changing numbers in the lines. I guarantee I used the paste button, copy button, cut button, backspace button a combined thousands of times jujst in a few hours. lol

As an fyi for everyone I really have everything close to how I want it now. So I can finally take a break. All I really want to do is add a bracket of the true winning teams somewhere and set it up to put the username of the member who wins somewhere. Change layout a tad. Otherwise not much I can do at this point any more. When I use the bracket system for another tournament of some sort I will hopefully change the form though.

edit: I just looked through my bracket to be sure there wasn't a team from an incorrect area shown as moving on and it all looks fine on mine, so hopefully I didn't mess anything up with my coding changes today. I notice I have uconn winning the next game though and they are out already. lol

I wouldn't say you're done. You got all right today except those 2 auto losses and actually the georgetown one. Who knows. It just depends.

edit: I looked and you barely have a chance becuase you can gain 100 on me in next round and 250 in the enxt which would put you ahead of me already. You would just have to hope I lose the ones where you have usc and clemson pretty much.

See, I told you guys. Going into the final day of the sweet 16, all three of us are still in it. In fact I think either of you can miss another and still catch me. I'm not 100% sure if one of you could eliminate each other though. becuase in order for one of you to miss certain games it would then mean I would win it along with you. But either way I see that either of you can beat me still. The number that decides the winner is points, not the correct picks number.

But if you dont win games in the earlier rounds you dont have that many teams playing in the higher point, later round games. I always stink in mm. if i do wind up doing good its mostly by luck.

I wasnt complaining about the dropdowns at all. You dont have the money cbs or yahoo has to create those java programs and shit. What you did was great. I just made some picks very fast and I must have mis-clicked it.

Well thanks and once again if the dropdowns did cause it, I apologize. I myself was annoyed with them becuase they are so close together. But mainly the reason i was annoyed was my mouse double clicks and so it was hard to even make picks on them. lol

Really you were rushed to finish the brackets that one day so you probably didn't have time to double check to be sure the picks were all correct. I was surprised you did pick them to go that far though.

I look at it this way. I didnt double check it and If Clemson WAS still in it, I probobly wouldnt have said a word.

Heh, now look at this. Through the UCLA game you are within 100 points of me despite 8 less correct picks. Next time I probably need to not increase payouts per round THIS much.
