Posted January 13, 200818 yr comment_9077 I have added a Golden Globes Prediction Contest. Simply click the Betting link at the top of any page. You can not get the links to show by clicking on the "New Matchups" link because this was a last minute thing and I did not have time to get some areas to work with this. So you must click the 2008 Golden Globes link on the front page once you get into the Betting System. I added 12 of the categories. The winner will receive 500 bonus points if I am not the only one in it. If several do it, maybe I will raise it. Keep in mind you can bet 0 points and still win 100 per matchup even if you do NOT use one of your free bet tickets. I am finalizing it real quick before officially opening it. I have no clue if any winners could be leaked or it 100% will be live, so I cut off the betting window by an hour before the press conference. edit: ok I actually somewhat fixed the recent matchups page, so it's usable. Only took me about 10 minutes. I just flat don't have time to do it for the results page and 2 dayw arning page right now though.
January 13, 200818 yr Author comment_9079 By the way, the My Bets, My Picks, etc... pages won't have proper stats for these either since they are set up differently. I will fix all of that later tonight and then make my payout function which I also didn't have time to finish.
January 14, 200818 yr Author comment_9082 In a blowout, Jason wins the Golden Globe Contest by picking 4 times as many selections correctly as the second place finisher. So I once again have to give myself a jackpot once I am done coding the file to pay the main jackposts out. Sigh. I wish someone here would challenge me for a change. Hard to beat me when people don't make a selection for every one though.... even when they are all free entries into the contest so you can win without even betting a single point. I just guessed at most and still finished way ahead. I wish more interest had been here. This would have been fun. I hope I get activity for the Oscars Picker when we do that becuase I don't like winning everything. I am the high man almost everywhere and I want more people to do good! NOTE: Something weird happened. I was watching what happened after each thing I paid out. All of them did fine EXCEPT somehow at some point me and Aaron both seemed to get 500 extra points and I have no clue what caused that. Nothing was even worth 500 at that time. I will look at the database I luckily saved the day before and be sure how many points we won and see if I can track it down. I added tons of coding and fixed several bugs yet again. This is the only known issue which would be somewhat major if it is true we got points we shouldn't have received. Although I guess it is not the end of the world if people get extra points randomly sometimes. lol Click the Picks link and then the Golden Globes link on that page to see the final stats for me and Aaron.
January 14, 200818 yr Author comment_9084 Heh luckily I saved the database yesterday and I just looked at all bets Aaron made since then and all I did since then (and some I had made before I saved the DB so on those i couldnt go down, only up after the DB save) and everything is 100% right when you include in the 500 points we got from weekly market update. So it is NOT this system with a bug, it is Market paying at an incorrect time and I just happened to be looking at point totals and paying out bets when it show us up 500 each.
