Sports Betting 2.0.1 has been released. It is mainly bug fixes and a couple minor new features. I was going to change some skinning and include the team photos on the bet pages, but am undecided on how I want to set that up. So this will change to yet another version soon with some skinning changes.

Changes

1. If you made a Big Bet, the multiplier will now be shown in () on the My Bets page. When you make a bet, your multiplier is the one in place at the time of the bet.

2. Bug Fix: Page links were not present on the My Bets page. Now they will show properly.

3. Bug Fix: Dates are now accurate for your own time zone on the My Bets, My Picks, and Results pages (as well as all others). The Results Page was using Eastern Time when deciding whether a matchup happened "today", "tomorrow", or "yesterday". Thus it would have been incorrect for many time zones, depending on game times. The other 2 pages listed ehre were also using Eastern Time.

4. Sped up the system by forcing certain things not to be loaded on pages they are not needed on.

5. Made the link bar an html template rather than hard coded into my file. Thus easier to change the appearance in the future.

6. The link near the top of any page that appears when there are matchups added since your last visit will only show OPEN matchups since your last visit.

7. The Recent Matchups page will only show open ones.

8. When viewing a bet page, the bread crumb trail (trail of links at the top) will have the link to the category in the middle. It did only have the start link and end link, with no middle one for category title.

9. Bug Fix: My Bets Page now says "Lost 0" for all Free Bet Losses. Thus you will not have inaccurate loss totals, seeing as how you did not lose any actual points in those bets.

Future Plans

1. NCAA Tourney Picker.

2. Fantasy sports content including a daily game to pick which of several players will have the best day.

3. Photos/logos of teams. I already have the settings there, but have not yet decided where I can put them and have things still look good.

4. Tips area for matchups. You would either pay points or maybe be in a certain suer group to be able to read tips for matchups. I think this is a cool idea because I may, for example, point out a trend I notice with a team or maybe something someone else informed me of.

5. Skinning and bug fixing.

6. User Group Permissions.

7. Users submit matchups and if I approve them, memebrs can bet on theirs.

8. Separate out the Bowl Picker to be different and more feature-packed.

9. Sports Trivia Section.

10. Other cool features. Stay tuned!

Heh. Good thing I pay close attention becuase now I just noticed another bug. I accidentally noticed that my overall winnings total shown on the stats page stayed the same, despite the My Bets page saying I lost 500 points on the most recent bowl game. After checking in the database, adding totals, etc... I saw that the total was correct, but the issue was that the My Bets page was saying I lost 500 even though it was a free bet. Then I saw all of my free bets which were won were displaying corretly, but ones I lost were all saying I lost points when really I did not lose anything since they were free bets.

Long story short, I fixed it.

Note to myself: I just figured out a way to allow for a bowl picker each year without losing the stats and without having to rearrange much in the coding. I could redo it totally, but it would be quite simple to have it where I click a button to signal the picker is completed and then that triggers putting member stats into a new table for the tourney and then reset member picks won and lost totals and various other things.

I guess the next things I need to work on are the ncaa basketball picker, which will be more difficult and also maybe either fantasy sports or sports trivia.

Come on people, please hold down that enthusiasm!!!!!

Anyway some solutions came to me in my sleep. lol So I know a good way to get some things more how I want.
