Heh. Yankees will NOT get Santana and probably the Red Sox will. Guess as usual of late the Yankees made decisions to ruin their short-term future. I see no way they can outdo a red Sox team with Santana and a Tigers team who kept Rogers, added Willis (due for a huge breakout year finally), and the high average Cabrera.

This was interesting..

According to Sweeney Murti on WFAN, the Tigers have approached the Mets about Dontrelle Willis, with Ivan Rodriguez also perhaps being involved.

It appears that the Tigers would like to shed some salary after picking up Miguel Cabrera, and this would be a creative way of doing it. The Mets have long been interested in Willis, but the Marlins didn't want to trade him in the division. If they took on both Willis and Pudge, they'd be adding $20 million to the payroll -- or maybe $15 million if they threw back Brian Schneider -- and they might have to extend Rodriguez in order to get him to waive his no-trade protection.

The Dodgers reached a tentative agreement late Wednesday night with free-agent center fielder Andruw Jones, a source with knowledge of the situation said on the condition of anonymity. Jones, a 10-time Gold Glove winner who was once one of the game's most feared hitters, will receive a two-year, $36 million contract if he passes a physical.

Reds signed RHP Francisco Cordero, who had been with the Brewers, to a four-year, $46 million contract with a club option for 2012.

The Brewers will get supplemental first-round picks for losing Cordero and Scott Linebrink. They're also currently in line to receive second-rounders from the Reds and White Sox, though that could change if either team signs a guy with a higher Elias ranking. Cordero's arrival in Cincinnati pushes David Weathers into a setup role alongside Jared Burton. He'll likely be a fine closer initially, though it's anyone's guess whether he'll be nearly as good in his age 35 and 36 seasons.

Everyone you want on the yankees just keep disappearing day after day. Rowand signs with Giants and Peavy about to sign an extension with the Padres. And of course they apparently aren't getting Santana either. I personally am glad. I always want them and the red sox to suck. Everyone else I am fine with them succeeding.
