Posted September 25, 200718 yr comment_8438 I worked for quite a while trying to enhance the site's performance. By simply getting rid of the "who viewed my topic" mod and the "moderator center" mod, I have cut queries quite drastically in topic view and even most other areas. I may also remove the awards system until we actually use it becuase it will cut down 1 DB query per member's post on a page. Thus it could cut down up to 10 queries. In fact 1 was an update query so I think it would even cut it down by 2 per person with a post on a given page. I also deleted thousands of files off of the server which took me many hours to do. That may not help, but either way thatw as thousands of files wasting space on the server. The day before I worked for many hours on the reviews system. I am pleased with some things I figured out and continue to work on to improve that system as well. It will be very good when it gets used, trust me. So there ya go. Just letting everyone know that how active or inactive this site is never changes how much effort I ut in to make it work as well as possible while still being able to have the best modifications in place. Thank You for visiting the site Jason P.S. When I just posted this, it was VERY noticably faster. Before I did these changes it was "sticking" befoe the post would show up. Also editor seems to be working better. I like it much better even if it means not using the moderator center. I never used that yet anyway and it was adding tons of queries all over the place!
September 26, 200718 yr Author comment_8442 Wow the difference in time it takes to load a topic when clicking on it or when redirecting to it after posting is massive. It's very much improved. Itw as "hanging" when posting in the past and I thought it was due to a lot of info being updated such as point count and post count, but in reality removing that mod center modification fixed it big time!
