Those are always awesome, last year's was really memorable for me (probably becasue it's the only one I sat through). ^_^ But Greece was a picturesque country for it to be held in; I'd so love to go there some day. And I also miss Track & Field! Especially 110 Hurdles! USA owninated everyone, except in hurdles sadly. :lol: *Pops open a can of generic 7up, puts it in a fancy glass and watches reruns of Athens* But about Carly competing, I doubt it anytime soon. Like Jamie said, she looked in no condition to compete. Plus, herniated disks aren't easy things to heal. Plus if she's serious about music, that'll take a lot of time away with tours, etc. Plus college next year. I find it very hard to believe that she will compete seriously again. but we do have a very good group of youngsters coming up, so the USA will most likely be set for a while.

I wish more athletes would've stayed to watch it though. I didn't see the '96 closing, or olympics for that matter as far as my memory can span. But giant kangaroos do seem odd, especially for a younger person, I know I'd be freaked. :blink: I could see how the dragons from Athen's closing could scare a little kid too. :mellow: I can't wait for Beijing. I'm definitely going there when it rolls around, since I'll be in college and'll be able to. But that'd stink if Carly couldn't make college next year. It'd be kind of odd being a Super-Senior Olympic Champ. That would stink for anyone.

Video replays have shown that Yang Tae Young should have gotten a deduction for too many holds so therefore his score was RIGHT. Her beam routine was (and still is) so effing amazing in athens, and she totally deserved every beam score she got. Her floor...well eh, her form isnt the greatest but it was decent compared to how it is now. The floor final was so weak in Athens so really she did deserve that score compared to others in the final. and yeah, I'll agree with you about Paul's silver. Nemov deserved a medal, so maybe Paul should have gotten bronze.

Hello, Olympic champs baby! and the Athens team wasnt awesome just because of CARLY, she totally effed up in team finals. Everyone on the team was a part of the USA awesomeness.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_1595 Carly sure seemed to choke in the team competition. I will say that much. But whatever. If someone on Romania did that, you would make excuses for them. And it is dumb to think that only U.S. gymnasts have been overscored. I rememebr tons of events where people from Russia, Romania, China, etc... ahve been grossly overscored. So pretending the U.S. is different is not wise. In fact if there is one country that is treated unfairly, it IS the U.S.. The other countries dont like us, so they UDNERscore us. If we overscored someone in our own competition, then oh well. Still doesnt make up for the underscores internationally.
August 20, 200520 yr comment_1596 We are sooo not underscored internationally, Romania totally rocked in team finals, and deserved to be the 2004 Olympic team champs. They were so solid and effing AMAZING not just in the team competition, but in AA and EF too. The scoring in general at the 2004 Olympics just sucked and was messed up, thus we have the new code which will be an even bigger mess of scoring!
