Posted February 2, 200719 yr comment_7914 A street marketing campaign in Boston intended to draw attention to Time Warner's Cartoon Network instead drew out the bomb squads, closing major arteries and bridges in and out of the city for much of the day. Police responded to nine so-called "devices," shutting down Interstate 93, closing two bridges between Boston and Cambridge and halting boat traffic on the Charles River. Several other roads in and out of the city also were temporarily closed. Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner and parent company of Cartoon Network, quickly apologized for the stunt and cooperated with authorities to locate the remaining "devices." In addition to Boston, the campaign is under way in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Austin, Texas, San Francisco and Philadelphia. http://www.forbes.com/digitalentertainment...01varitytv.html

February 2, 200719 yr Author comment_7922 Yeah i heard about that and how they were looking into who all should get in trouble. Boston did arrest 2 guys but hen released them. Guess they realized Boston has become a National Joke because of how they over reacted and released the guys hoping this embarrassment goes away. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/02/01/ap3387951.html In nine cities across the country, blinking electronic signs displaying a profane, boxy-looking cartoon character caused barely a stir. But in Boston, the signs - some with protruding wires - sent a wave of panic across the city, bringing out bomb squads and prompting officials to shut down highways, bridges and part of the Charles River. Something that may have been amusing in other cities was not funny to authorities here, the city that served as the base for the hijackers who carried out the Sept. 11 attacks. Officials defended their reaction Thursday even as two men charged in the case, and some residents, mocked the response as overblown.
