Football

High school, college, and NFL football!

  1. Started by Jason,

Within the last 8 days or so two number 1s and two number 2s all lost. Now it is chaos as to who will play for the national championship. A 4-7 team beat the #2 team in the country, meanwhile Oklahoma beat #1 Missouri as I expected. Due to those events, it probably will have a title game of Ohio State vs. Georgia. However Georgia did not even win their division, let alone the whole conference as LSU did! So I am agreeing that the voters on polls may try their best to keep Georgia out. I ahve a feeling they wont only put LSU over Georgia, but may even move Georgia down further to be sure they cant stay in the top 2 in the BCS rankings. Other teams that COULD be in t…

After receiving a second shot at being able to get to the National Championship game, the LSU Tigers have once again lost a triple Overtime game to all but ruin their chances. Perhaps if the winner of the Kansas/Missouri game loses next week to Oklahoma and a few other things happen it could allow LSU back in, but it is almost a 0% chance.

  8. Started by Jason,

A couple teams have already ruined their hopes at a National Championship in my opinion. Tennessee lost their first game and were already only ranked around #15. Also #5 Michigan lost to APPALACHIAN STATE. I'm sorry, but if they win every game remaining they don't deserve to be one of the top 2 teams now and if they are it shows how stupid rankings end up being. They put who theyw ant up there in the polls and I bet they won't even move them down much and they will pop right back up there which affects the BCS standings.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=2964653 Brady Quinn has agreed to a five-year contact with the Cleveland Browns worth $20.2 million, with $7.75 million guaranteed, ending his holdout. The deal could grow to $30 million over five years with incentives. Quinn, who was on his way to Cleveland to join his teammates on Tuesday, had been working out at an athletic training facility in Arizona while his contract was being negotiated. Having missed the first 10 days of training camp, Quinn, 22, faces a considerable catch-up period at a position where the learning curve is already difficult. Although he performed in a sophisticated offense at Notre Dame, a…

  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=2957515 ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York Giants are not going to renegotiate Michael Strahan's $4 million contract to persuade the seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end to stop mulling retirement and play this season. "I don't want to get into negotiating in the media," co-owner John Mara said Wednesday as Strahan's holdout entered its sixth day. "He is under contract and I think you all know what our position is on that. I don't want to make any statements on that." In his gut, Mara said he feels the 35-year-old Strahan would eventually decide to play, but he said the team was prepared to move on without him.

Games have already been played, but obviously today is the first Saturday in the college football season! If enough interest would ever show up, I could pay to add this feature where you can do a "pick 'em" for the season. I guess we would have to skip the current week though and possibly more weeks, depending on when people would join who like football.

KDKA in Pittsburgh is reporting Ben Roethlisberger is in a Pittsburgh hospital with head injuries after a motorcycle accident Monday. He wasn't wearing a helmet and the eyewitness claimed Roethlisberger was reportedly bleeding "profusely" from the head. Bill Cowher famously advised Roethlisberger to start wearing a helmet after Kellen Winslow's accident last year. An eyewitness told Pittsburgh television that Roethlisberger flew over the handle bars head first into the car's windshield his motorcycle struck. He was conscious after the accident. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has detailed the severity of Ben Roethlisberger's injuries. "Roethlisberger lost most of his teeth…
