Later today it should become official that Saturday Memphis and Tennessee will be ranked #1 and #2 in the country for their game on espn. All made possible thanks to a miracle comeback by Memphis, a close win by Tennessee, and Dike losing the last day before Poll relesase.

The University Of Memphis is officially #1 in the Coaches Poll just released. We were further ahead of Kansas on the AP Poll so we should be #1 on both. Interesting it happens on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which obviously is Memphis-related.

As I predicted, Kansas State beat Kansas to leave the Memphis Tigers as the lone remaining undefeated team in all of men's college basketball. Digger Phelps of ESPN said he "guaranteed" Memphis would lose to Houston tonight, but the Tigers won by double digits. Barring a big shocker, Memphis will be the first unanimous #1 team of the season next week. Memphis equals their best start in team history at 20-0. They have won their last 39 straight regular season games and have not lost at home since January, 2006. Joey Dorsey had 21 rebounds tonight, Chris Douglas-Roberts had 30 points, and Robert Dozier had 21.

Texas A&M lost at home to Baylor in 5 overtimes Wednesday. Five players fouled out for Baylor and two others were a foul away from it. I don't think they even had anyone left to put in if one of those fouled out.

I was going to add a bet on which of the 3 undefeated teams will still be undefeated at season's end later tonight. Now I have one less team to put in as a choice. North Carolina loses to Maryland AT HOME 3 days after almost losing to Georgia Tech. I think they will drop 4 places after this bad of a week. Against 2 mediocre teams they won by 1 and lost by 2. Meanwhile Memphis and Kansas play later tonight. Kansas is only a 6 point favorite. As long as Memphis wins, we are finally numero uno on Monday. And if Mizzou helps us out, we will be the final unbeaten team and unanimous number one Monday. I know people who go to Maryland and just told them a few days ago I want …

I get so tired of hearing how North Carolina and Duke are in a conference soooooooooo much better than Memphis'. After their loss today, Miami (FL) will drop out of the rankings. So other than UNC and Duke the ONLY ONLY ONLY ranked team in the entire conference will be Clemson and they could drop out very soon also! Memphis has ZERO ranked teams other than ourselves, so you have to say the ACC is better as a whole, but it is not even close to as loaded as they pretend. By the end of the season it may veryw ell be only 2 ranked teams in it and C-USA can still have several end up being ranked. Memphis, UAB, Houston, and TCU all have chances to be ranked.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080111/ap_on_...LWQgr8_d9cE1vAI As usual with Yahoo stories this will be a broken link later, so I really should find links from other sites. Anyway a game has to be replayed (the final minute or so) due to a mistake where O'neal was fouled out with less than 6 fouls. It is the first protest to win in the NBA in over 25 years.

St. Louis set the all-time low for points in a game since the shot clock began by scoring only 20 points last night. The record low for any game is 6. Tennessee beat Temple 11-6 in 1973. lol http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/recap;_ylt=A...227&prov=ap

http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncb/index Notice the #1 and #4 must see games for this season are Memphis games. We also play Tennessee in February which I personally think will be huge because Tennessee is supposed to be ranked barely below us. Well ia m about to be off to Midnight Madness.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3159983 Now I guess he won't announce some of the Memphis games I was hoping he would announce. He should make it back just in time to do the Memphis vs. Tennessee Game Day game though.

Caracter, Louisville's second leading scorer, has been suspended indefinitely for rules violations. The team as a whole voted to suspend him. I personally think it's funny how much Pitino has underachieved with his Louisville teams since he left Conference USA and was making jokes about Calipari and Memphis not getting to leave the conference. I guess he is laughing still since he has even missed the NCAA Tournament totally sometimes with teams that were ranked in the TOP TEN to start the season. This year they started the season at #6 and have already lost to 1 good team and 1 bad team and ahve barely won in some other matchups.

I wonder where in the world to find old stats as far as schedule/result logs for past seasons for college sports. I don't have time to search right now, but all I know is when I want to see how Memphis started out a past season I can never find old season logs! Maybe I need to type in the year along with it. But there SHOULD be a site that archives year after year for college teams.

This is from Rivals.com. If anybody finds others, post them here. Click the link for all 25. http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=669521 1. NORTH CAROLINA — Rank in first poll: 3 The Tar Heels lose Brandan Wright but return Tyler Hansbrough (18.4 ppg, 7.9 rpg), Ty Lawson (10.2 ppg, 5.6 apg) and Wayne Ellington (11.7 ppg). All three considered making the leap to the NBA to varying degrees, but all three made the correct decision to return to Chapel Hill. Wright obviously will be missed, probably more on the defensive end where he ranked sixth in the ACC in blocks. 2006-2007 highlights 2. MEMPHIS — Rank in first poll: 8 Ten of the top 11 scorers retur…

Memphis won the tournament. Recently several teams who won this tournament won the National Championship. Maryland, Syracuse, and I believe Florida all won this before winning national titles in recent years.

First Michigan lost its season opener in football to a Division 2 team. Now Michigan State and Ohio State (that's right, last year's second best team) have both lost to Division 2 teams in basketball.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/powerranking...2008&week=1 This shows that they just put who they want at #1. lol Becuase look closely at it. If you look at the detailed votes from the panel you will see Memphis was voted #1 more than North Carolina and if you add up the rankings Memphis comes in at 20 and North Carolina 21. (with lowest total being best) yet they show North Carolina as #1. lol In other words on average lists memphis is ranked 2.00 while North carolina is ranked 2.10 yet somehow they translate that into North Carolina is ranked #1. lol

Well Midnight Madness was fun. I took 10 videos with my phone, but the quality is bad. The sound is so loud on them though. lol Also some are too big to email to myself which makes me mad. The possible top freshman in the country (Derrick Rose) was not in the dunk contest , but Calipari asked him to do one dunk just for him and he did an amazing dunk. Also Joey Dorsey did probably 10 dunks or more during a short scrimmage.

I will be updating this list as Rivals.com reveals the remainder of its preseason rankings. They are a very well known site for predictiong college sports and keeping up with recruiting. Thus far all but 3 teams have been named in their top 64. The last three remaining are memphis, UCLA, and North Carolina. So we shall see where Memphis ends up being ranked. We already have been ranked #1 by both cbssports.com and ESPN. Some notes: Even Butler and Arkansas are ranked better than last year's #1 seeds Ohio State and national champs Florida. Only Memphis and UCLA keep getting #1 or #2 seeds each year regardless of who they lose becuase they have such great recruiting…

http://www.canada.com/topics/sports/story....a9c&k=78825 BOSTON (Reuters) - The Boston Celtics moved on Tuesday to return the franchise to its glory years by acquiring 10-times All-Star Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Garnett is an athletic power forward still searching for his first NBA title after spending his first 12 years in the league with the Timberwolves. "This is probably my best opportunity of winning a (championship) ring," Garnett told reporters. The Celtics will ship to the Timberwolves forwards Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, center Theo Ratliff, guard Sebastian Telfair and two first-round draft picks. At 6-foot-11, 253 pounds…
