Eric Gagne was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with pain in his lower back and is expected to remain overnight. Gagne still hasn't begun a throwing program that he initially was scheduled to start last Friday, and it's believed his back pain is unrelated to any baseball activity. He's scheduled to be examined by Dr. Robert Watkins and more should be known about his condition on Thursday. IMHO - Drop him

Roger Clemens has agreed to a 1 year contract with the Houston Astros. edit: Astros are denying it, so this is not official yet. But a lot of sources seem to believe it is true.

Cardinals acquired RHP Jeff Weaver and cash considerations from the Angels from outfielder Terry Evans. Rotoworld: A return to the Dodgers might have been even better, but we're optimistic that Weaver will have considerable fantasy value the rest of the way. He'll also be pretty useful to the Cardinals, though he's not someone who can necessarily be counted on in a playoff game. His arrival should bump Sidney Ponson from the St. Louis rotation, if not the roster entirely. My Suggestion - 2nd Half sleeper pick

Brian Shackelford was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault. Shackelford was arrested leaving Miller Park following Wednesday's game. Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz declined to provide details on the arrest other than to say it involved a woman Monday. The Reds said they would not discuss the case because of pending legal proceedings. "We recognize the seriousness of the matter and do not condone behavior of the type alleged," the team said in a statement.

Jose Canseco has returned to professional baseball. He caused a record crowd in his first game and others watched from atop an aprtment complex. He says it will only take hima week to get used to hitting breaking balls again. I hope he is back in the majors some time. I shall pick him up in fantasy leagues if he is http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjKC...p&type=lgns

He really should be fired. He is ALWAYS offending people. Now he called someone a slur for being gay. I didn't know until yesterday that he ORDERED someone to hit a batter and then yelled at him in front of cameras in the dugout when he didn't hit him. He bashed Frank Thomas. He needs to go. Now.

No big surprise, but Barrry Bonds said he badly wants to pass Babe Ruth in career homeruns, but he "isn't sure" if he wants to beat Hank Aaron.

Mehcn just went deep in the 8'th inning to get within 1 game now of the major league record for consecutive games with a homerun. It kind of annoys me I only picked him up in 1 league, but it was an important league so it's all good.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Avai...o&type=lgns A lawsuit could determine if fantasy baseball games can even exist anymore. I told this guy Paul all along that at this point stats are still public domain, but as usual people don't think I know what Ia m tlaking about. He insisted only a couple sites could sell fantasy teams. When in reality they just can't all use player photos.

NY Newsday got an advanced copy of the book so they broke the news about Sheffield using steroids in 2001 with Bonds. Then he and Bonds fought and Sheffield still tried to get the steroids from Balco. Funny that Bonds paid off Anderson to NOT sell steroids to sheff and Giambi had the stuff shipped to his parents house. lol Plus Giambi's face is right on the cover. "Game of Shadows," the explosive new book that puts together a damning dossier on Barry Bonds' steroid usage, also offers some new details of Gary Sheffield's relationship with the slugger and performance-enhancing drugs. Specifically, Sheffield -- who reportedly testified to the BALCO grand jury in Decem…

Liriano of the Twins was arrested on drug trafficking charges. I think this may be enough for me to release him in my leagues. He has eben causing me problems by having nobody to replace him in my lineup and he is going to be a reliever. With this added issue, I am starting to think it will be a long time before he would be worth anything. edit: It says online it is a drunk driving charge. But I heard somewhere else drug trafficking. So who knows. Either way I wish he hadn't been able to pitch because I have no clue what to do with him and have now ay to bench him.

This can be a thread for injuries to players which would actually affect fantasy owners. No need to tell the lesser ones. Just key ones really. The latest 2 are Johnny Damon and Derek Lee. And Lee has had such great stats I was going to change my mind on not drafting him this season. But so much for that. A shoulder problem could be a fairly big deal.

this was just a sidenote blurb in the NY Times so I didnt bother to post the link. Bad Back Stops Brown Kevin Brown pitched in successive World Series — in 1997 with Florida and in 1998 with San Diego — then signed a seven-year, $105 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baseball life would never be the same. The contract completed, Brown, who will turn 41 next month, has concluded that life. His career is over. "Kevin didn't have me pursue any teams because he wanted to see how his health was," his agent, Scott Boras, said. "He decided after the painful process last year he was not going to play. His arm is still remarkably good, but it's about his back. He …
