Eric Gagne was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with pain in his lower back and is expected to remain overnight. Gagne still hasn't begun a throwing program that he initially was scheduled to start last Friday, and it's believed his back pain is unrelated to any baseball activity. He's scheduled to be examined by Dr. Robert Watkins and more should be known about his condition on Thursday. IMHO - Drop him

Roger Clemens has agreed to a 1 year contract with the Houston Astros. edit: Astros are denying it, so this is not official yet. But a lot of sources seem to believe it is true.

Cardinals acquired RHP Jeff Weaver and cash considerations from the Angels from outfielder Terry Evans. Rotoworld: A return to the Dodgers might have been even better, but we're optimistic that Weaver will have considerable fantasy value the rest of the way. He'll also be pretty useful to the Cardinals, though he's not someone who can necessarily be counted on in a playoff game. Brian Shackelford was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault. Shackelford was arrested leaving Miller Park following Wednesday's game. Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz declined to provide details on the arrest other than to say it involved a woman Monday. The Reds said they would not discuss the case because of pending legal proceedings. In his first rehab start, Roger Clemens gave up 1 run and 3 baserunners in 3 innings. In only the 3 innings he had 6 strikeouts and walked none.

Liriano of the Twins was arrested on drug trafficking charges. I think this may be enough for me to release him in my leagues. He has eben causing me problems by having nobody to replace him in my lineup and he is going to be a reliever. With this added issue, I am starting to think it will be a long time before he would be worth anything. edit: It says online it is a drunk driving charge. But I heard somewhere else drug trafficking. So who knows. Either way I wish he hadn't been able to pitch because I have no clue what to do with him and have now ay to bench him.
