The 2008 homerun derby probably won't be too great since as usual the big names apparently opted out. However a former University Of Memphis player is in the derby. Dan Uggla. Last year all of these people talked down Memphis' sports yet the football team has gone to bowl games all but one year recently, the cheerleading and dcance teams won national championships, the basketball team was in the NC game, and now this baseball player is an all-star and in the HR derby. Others are "from" Memphis, but not the school itself, such as the Orioles closer.

And his name is... Brett Myers. hahaha I love it love it love it. He is arrogant and a jerk and he did horrible for my teams. He spends his time talking bad about others and not owning up to his bad pitching. I never would have owned him if I hadn't seen Aaron draft him. I thought well Aaron thinks he's worth drafting early, so since he's still here late i will take him. Big mistake.

I started following this in the fifth inning in another topic on here and it indeed came true. The L.A. Dodgers have just won a game while being no-hit. I don't think it will technically count as a no-hitter, however, because the Angels so happened to be the visiting team and so it was an 8 inning no-no. Very interesting game. edit: So that is the story.

Barry Bonds has finally been indicted by a grand jury on charges of perjury and obstruction to justice. I think it sucks that they let him beat the record before doing this.

The Mets finally fired Willie Randolph. Apparently all sane people knew he would be fired before the GM knew it was inevitable. lol At the end of last year he deserved to be fired for their collapse. At the beginning of this year they had a meeting and the GM claimed he was not going to be fired. I knew it was stupid not to fire him then also. The Mets are underperforming to an extreme. I can't think of a single player on there performing as good as they normally do. Billy Wagner I guess. But Beltran, no. Santana, no. Reyes, no. Delgado, no. Wright, not even close.

The Texas Rangers have cut ties with Sidney Ponson for what GM Jon Daniels called "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situations unbecoming of teammates." He has officially been designated for assignment. The club has 10 days to trade or release him.

Mark Worrell homered in his first major league at-bat tonight. What makes it even more interesting? 1. He is a pitcher. 2. The box score does not even mention it's his first career homer. So it's probably posted here in this topic before anywhere else. edit: Yep. I beat rotoworld. Also notice how many mistakes they make. They misspelled the word "more" and they said he's bgeen a good MAJOR league reliever right after they mentioned he was making his major league debut. lol http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...MLB&id=4399

I easily remember Geremi Gonzalez from when he pitched for the Chicago Cubs. It was a time when I watched all of the cubs games before they made the dumb mistake of getting new commentators. Although I thought his name was spelled either Jeremy or Jeremi. So I guess they just gave a fake spelling of his name when he was in the majors. Anyway he was struck by lighening and killed at the age of 33.

I don't remember who the Giants manager even is, but he did a smart thing today that other managers would not have done. I'm sure he was planning to do the normal managerial thing and use a different catcher for each end of the doubleheader today. Well Molina was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and 3 batted in for the first game. So what does the manager do? He goes against the norm and starts him right back at catcher for game 2 also and he is rewarded by Moline going 2 for 3 and driving in 2 more. So for the day Molina finishes 6 for 7 with 5 runs batted in.

I guess I will put my teams here. My first draft has been set up even though it is almost 2 days away and I have about the worst pick in the entire draft at fifth! I guess my only options there would include texiera, vlad, or santana. Only one of those 3 will be left and I doubt it will be vlad or santana. Manny may be there, but I dont like him or trust he will do great enough really. Maybe would draft him and deal him though.

I already can see what people are going to try to do in the daily transaction leagues. In both of my daily leagues a team has been adding and dropping several players per day which are hitters. Apparently trying to get extra offense by picking up new hitters on days they have hitters' teams not playing. Luckily CBS only allows 2 bench slots, so they are going to not be able to do it for pitching AND hitting. A lot of times they aren't even using bench slots though. They are using crappy catchers and middle infielders and then dropping them when their teams don't play.

Joe Torre, as usual, went against several things he said and signed with the Dodgers for the next 3 years. First off he gets a hugs pay cut, a bigger one epr season than he would have with the Yankees. Second off he said he didn't want to move and yet he accepted a job completely across the country.

I noticed on cbs on players' profiles it now has an area where you can see where they rank in categories such as wins, quality starts, etc... Pretty nifty.

NEW YORK (AP) - Moises Alou is staying with the New York Mets, and Damion Easley will return next season, too. The Mets exercised their $7.5 million option on Alou's contract Wednesday, bringing back the 41-year-old left fielder who was limited to 87 games this season because of a quadriceps injury. New York also re-signed Easley to a $950,000, one-year deal. The backup infielder and outfielder provided a boost off the bench in 2007 before a badly sprained left ankle ended his season on Aug. 18. When Alou was in the lineup, he produced. He batted .341 with 13 home runs, 49 RBIs and only 30 strikeouts in 328 at-bats during his first year with the Mets, who collapsed dow…

McNamee is auctioning off some things signed by him and Clemens. I believe he is also auctioning off things related to Canseco and Pettitte. Roger signs "Cy 7" along with his signature on a lot of things, so McNamee signed "Ly 0" on the same products to represent 0 lies.

Larry Bowa, the third base coach for the dodgers, was ejected for getting into an argument when being told to stay in the coach's box. Yet another coach and/or manager I now don't like. I don't even need to see what happened to know someone is an idiot if they can turn that into an argument. The box is there for a reason. Oh noooooo I was told to stand where I am supposeddddd to stand.
