Since it is now officially 2006 and Pitchers and Hitters report in about 6 weeks, I decided this would be a good time to start this thread. I am trying to get people to Join a Friends of Gottalk.com Fantasy Baseball league. Id like it to be competitive so I will want to run it thru one of the Paysites. Either CBS or Sporting news. Possibly ESPN but they are the most expensive and suckiest prizes. If anybody has other suggestions of where to use, I am more then willing to listen. Using the Pay sites will make competition stronger and Give everybody at a cash prize. So post in this threadand make sure to subscribe to it to get reminders ubout the upcoming season. Thanks

A.J. Burnett (Marlins) - Previous prediction: Yankees - five years, $65 million Burnett?s former team is about the only one without any interest in signing him. The Blue Jays are supposed to be the early favorites, but the Yankees, Mets, Mariners, Tigers, Cubs, Red Sox, Rangers, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Orioles could also be involved in the bidding. With so much money out there, a $70 million contract could be a possibility. Prediction: Mariners - five years, $65 million Roger Clemens (Astros) - Previous prediction: Astros - one year, $18 million It will again come down to pitching for Houston or retirement for Clemens. As hard as the end of the year was for him, it?s…

  7. Started by Guy Guyerson,

2nd Base Mark Grudzielanek (Cardinals) - Previous prediction: Cardinals - two years, $5 million With Craig Biggio signing an extension with the Astros on the final day of the regular season, Grudzielanek is the only free-agent second baseman sure to enter next year as a starter. The Cardinals will attempt to re-sign him and should be successful. Other potential suitors include the Mets, Red Sox, Twins, Royals, Diamondbacks, Devil Rays, Rangers and Rockies. Prediction: Cardinals - two years, $6 million Other free agents: Tony Graffanino (Red Sox), Mark Bellhorn (Yankees), Bret Boone (FA), D?Angelo Jimenez (Reds), Miguel Cairo (Mets), Deivi Cruz (Giants), Luis Rivas (Twi…

  8. Started by Guy Guyerson,

Johnny Damon (Red Sox) - Previous prediction: Red Sox - five years, $47.5 million Until the postseason, Damon figured to get the biggest contract of any offensive player this winter. Now, it?s almost certain to be Konerko instead, and with the Yankees reportedly only having limited interest, the market for Damon could be quite a bit weaker than expected. The Red Sox would like to have him back, but for three or four years rather than five. Also interested could be the Diamondbacks, Cubs, Nationals, Angels, Dodgers and Orioles. Prediction: Red Sox - four years, $40 million Hideki Matsui (Yankees) - Previous prediction: Yankees - three years, $27 million The Yankees have…

  9. Started by Guy Guyerson,

Paul Konerko (White Sox) - Previous prediction: White Sox - four years, $40 million $40 million over four years seemed realistic a couple of months ago. Now it appears likely that Konerko will get at least $60 million for five years. The Angels and Red Sox are supposed to be the top competition for the White Sox, but my guess is that Boston won?t be the strong suitors most expect. The Angels will probably put the best offer on the table, and since Konerko lives in Arizona, a team on the West Coast is appealing to him. Prediction: Angels - five years, $65 million Frank Thomas (White Sox) - No prediction The White Sox bought out Thomas? $10 million player option last wee…

  10. Started by Jason,

Although it would be a huge longshot, Memphis is a possible new home for the Florida Marlins. It appears it would be tough for us to support a major league team, but it is being tossed around.

A-rod barely beat David Ortiz for the MVP, as it should be.

  14. Started by Jason,

Arod's decision "not to dishonor either country" and skip playing in the world baseball classic is part of why he is my favorite player and has been for years. I like him as a player and also he is very classy. And frankly I was going to be disappointed if he played for the DR really.

  20. Started by Guy Guyerson,

Dumb moron. Ya think he would have laid off them like Pudge and Sosa did after Canseco's book. He even had the audacuty to deny it. ''I have never intentionally used steroids. Never. Ever. Period,'' he said. ''Ultimately, although I never intentionally put a banned substance into my body, the independent arbitrator ruled that I had to be suspended under the terms of the program.'' What a schmuck.

  21. Started by Guy Guyerson,

Ramon Hernandez (Padres) - Previous prediction: Mets - four year, $26 million Hernandez remains likely to become the highest-paid catcher of the free-agent class, but since indications are that the Mets prefer Bengie Molina, he probably won?t be the first to sign. A return to San Diego isn?t happening, so the Orioles, Astros, Mariners and Diamondbacks could be the top suitors. Because of the prospects they have on the way up, the Dodgers and Angels shouldn?t be willing to commit to a long-term deal with a catcher. Prediction: Orioles - four years, $26 million Bengie Molina (Angels) - Previous prediction: Angels - three years, $11 million It?d certainly be a case of ove…
